Current Knowledge of

Vampires and Metallic Creatures:

Containing a Personal Narrative
Of Vampiric Transformation

By

Dr. Bridgette McCleary

June 1925
Bridgette’s Report 2

Much of this report takes the form of personal narrative describing my initial
relationship with the metallic vampire Pathos. While this narrative might not give much
information in general about vampires, or metallic beings for that matter, I still feel it is
important to document what happened. Furthermore, some of the details have been
included simply because I felt Mr. Walter Smith deserved to know them. He was the first
of my circle of friends here in the United States who discovered transformation and has
been very accepting of my new nature and the needs attached to it. This acceptance has
contributed a great deal to my current peace of mind, for which I am quite thankful.
At the very least this report will shed some insight in to the actions and thoughts
of some known vampires, hopefully helping to enlighten the researcher into such
phenomena. Everyone possesses within in them the power for good or evil. I feel it is the
same with these creatures, of which I now am one. It is my wish that by having a better
understanding of these incredible creatures that the investigator’s first response to finding
one will not be to immediately assume it needs to be destroyed.
Unfortunately there is much room for further research and I feel this report barely
scratches the surface. As I uncover and learn more about my new state of being, and as
more is learned while helping Pathos along on his quest, this report will continue to
expand. For now, let this suffice as an introduction to vampires, giving some details of
their feeding and their vulnerabilities.

Personal Narrative

On 10 March 1925 I first encountered the vampire Pathos during an unrelated

investigation into an invisible building.1 While we had earlier encountered another of the
metallic vampires in Boston, named Labana, I was unable to observe much more than the
most obvious of physical characteristics at that time. Due to the unfortunate inclination of
these creatures to explode after sustaining too much lethal damage, further observation
and research was impossible.
My introduction to Pathos would prove quite helpful in learning more about
vampires in general and the metallic vampires specifically. However, let me state that for
the purposes of this report any specific information concerning who Pathos is, or will be,
shall be omitted. Due to the current nature of our relationship and his trust in me, I will
not betray certain confidences shared specifically between us. I have no intention of
increasing the danger in which he finds himself.
That said, I would like to provide some details of our meeting and what passed
between us prior to my investigative companions deducing my new, changed nature.
While I shall do my best to keep the personal and emotional out of this narrative, I
suspect it to be quite impossible to remain totally objective. After all, I was in a mental
state that was highly distressed and there was a vampire bent on my seduction. I shall,
however, try to keep even the emotional on as objective a level as is possible. Therefore,
do not be surprised that this narrative does, indeed, begin on an emotional note. Quite
simply, I was terrified by the hallucinations of which my mind was so accepting.
I was cowering in a stairwell corner near hysteria when Pathos first discovered
me, or rather, when I first noticed him. Hearing a “click” and “whirr”, I looked up to see

1
Said building was later found to contain a rather powerful Dixon battery that did indeed belong to
Professor Dixon. Unfortunately for Dr. Dixon, a “Watchtower” had taken up residence atop his experiment.
Bridgette’s Report 3

a rather handsome man hanging from the ceiling above, observing me. At my gasp of
surprise, he righted himself and landed quite gracefully on the floor before me, where he
extended his hand in introduction, the very picture of good breeding and manners. I’m
afraid my manners were not nearly as impeccable, although I hope to be forgiven, given
the circumstances. My name was, however, supplied, and I did finally extend my hand
when he offered to assist me in standing once more.
The moment his hand touched mine there was something like a small electric
shock (for lack of a better term) that shot through me, followed by a warm feeling as he
bent over my hand in order to kiss it. It was only after a long moment that I realized he
was still in possession of my hand and I apologetically withdrew it back to myself. It was
then that I “came to” as though asleep. Looking around I discovered that the worst of my
hallucinations had quite thankfully vanished. However, the back of my hand still tingled
something similar to the pins-and-needles feeling one suffers when an extremity has
suffered poor circulation – although I must admit to this particular sensation being quite a
pleasant one. Rubbing my hand drew attention to a pair of small puncture wounds,
similar to what a snake might create. Closer inspection revealed them to be something
more horrifying – they were the creation of human incisors.
Please note that at this point Pathos has done no harm, except for the twin
puncture wounds in the back of my hand; he did not draw enough blood for its loss to
even be felt. Furthermore, I am quite certain he intended me no harm for there was
certainly nothing to stop him. Having seen Aiden Hand’s fight with Labana in Boston I
would not even consider deluding myself into believing I would be any match for such as
these vampires. However, I was also familiar with the story of Miss. Belle Devereaux’s
aerocraft mechanic and how he was transformed into a vampire of metallic nature. I was
quite terrified of what those bite marks might mean for my future.2
I gathered up my equipment and scurried down the stairs, or so I thought. After
what seemed approximately eight flights of steps I found myself on the thirty-second
floor’s landing. Trying to stay calm at this turn of events, and pondering what to do, I
again heard a similar “click, whirr” from earlier. Once again Pathos stood before me,
looking concerned. I must admit to fearing my life at an end, but I held my ground as best
as possible in the given circumstances.
Pathos explained that I had been crawling up the steps instead of descending them
- as I had believed. Such was the mental manipulative powers of the creature upon the
roof. He offered to help me back down the stairs to the first floor landing. With little
choice other than to remain traversing the stairwell for goodness knew how long, I
gratefully took him up on his offer. At this point he lifted me up and with a sudden
clicking sound extended the most beautiful pair of silvery metallic wings, similar to what
those of an angel might look like. Balancing himself upon the banister of the stairwell, he
cast off and we began sliding down, with me certainly screaming as we rounded the first
curve to continue our descent. It was all very sudden and unexpected.
Upon reaching the first floor door, he gently sat me down upon my feet once more
and flew off upwards. It was shortly after this that Mr. Hand and Walter Smith came
through the stairwell doorway on their way towards the roof. Pathos once again made his

2
A later blood sample would reveal the presence of an as yet unidentified pathogen that had been
introduced into my blood. Later samples revealed no increase in the amount of pathogen present, which,
needless to say, was a relief. More on the pathogen, and its identification, will be discussed later.
Bridgette’s Report 4

appearance, whereupon Mr. Smith and he engaged in conversation leading to Pathos’

discovery of Labana’s death. A look of incredible pain descended upon the vampire’s
face at this news, as though he had been struck something quite fierce.
Unfortunately Mr. Hand and Pathos became enemies on the spot, due to Mr.
Hand’s responsibility in Labana’s death. Initially, Pathos’ involvement with me only
served to increase this animosity; although I am hopeful things have begun to heal
somewhat.
It was shortly after the above encounter that I engaged in several hours of
laboratory research, leading to the development of the Elixir of Mental Fortitude for the
rest of the investigative group. It was there that I noticed a sudden intense mental
distraction occurring, initially, on an hourly basis. I blush to admit the details, but my
mind would stray unbidden to Pathos, the back of my wounded hand would throb, and I
would be overcome with a “weak-in-the-knees” feeling that many of the newly in love
describe. The feeling was far from unpleasant, but was also extremely distracting, as I
apparently had no control over it. As the hours passed the reaction began to fade
somewhat to where it would only strike me upon the day and at the hour at which the
wounds were received. Furthermore I could continue to tell exactly where the puncture
marks were, which would prove helpful later in the autopsy investigations in Michigan
with Mr. Wild and Miss. Devereaux. (A full report of the autopsy findings should be on
file elsewhere.)
Pathos made no attempts to contact me in the coming days, although I started to
have dreams that included him, or rather, dreams that centered on the two of us. Modesty
and their personal nature prevent me from detailing those dreams here but to say that they
were of a courting or seductive nature. Whether or not they were intentional on the part
of Pathos I cannot say for certain, although I do have my suspicions. He has firmly
refused to comment, which may speak louder than he intended. If that is the case, I
suspect the dreams were just as personal for him. These dreams increased in vividness
and intensity around the time of the full moon. As we approached the new moon, they
would fade until, on the night of the actual new moon, I would sleep a dreamless sleep.
Other factors made themselves known as the full moon approached: I could “feel”
his presence. By the night of the full moon itself I could probably have found him within
the city, as I was able sense his location spatially. In truth I even resolved to perform such
an experiment during the following full moon if events repeated. As fate would have it,
he sought me out shortly before then. What follows is a brief synopsis of events,
concerning Pathos, leading up to the full moon.
- Starting a week before the full moon I sense, and then see, him standing on
the crowded evening walkway across from my hotel. When I take a closer
look, he is gone.
- Four days to the full moon I find myself able to sense where he is spatially,
much like the prior month. Awaking the next morning I discover that he has
taken up location far beneath the hotel, where he is apparently asleep.
- The following evening he is present within the hotel and begins following me,
albeit at a distance (approximately twenty-five to thirty feet).
- The vampire’s mist form is accidentally discovered when I open my door and
apparently walk through him. I must say it was accidentally as I was so used
Bridgette’s Report 5

to sensing his presence that it went unnoticed until the peculiar sensation of
passing through someone who was not present in solid form.
- Two days before the full moon’s climax, Pathos actually entered my rooms,
again in a mist form, and assumed his more solid form, appearing quite
nervous. He then proceeded to request my help, though there were no
specifics, and seemed quite concerned over the issue of trust, which I now
understand. He offered me immortality for my assistance and explained that
the process would leave a mental link between the two of us. It would put his
need for trust at ease. Explaining little else, except to promise the process
would not make me such as him, he assumed the form of a bat and flew out
my window, which was unfortunately closed at the time.
In truth, I never feared for my life, except for initial events in the stairwell. Nor
was I ever frightened. Pathos never behaved in any manner that was ungentlemanly.
Furthermore, on nights of the new moon, I found myself feeling all but bereft at not being
able to sense or feel any of his presence. For reasons concerning his mental pathology,
which I now understand better, he always kept himself a safe distance from my person –
the exceptions being in the stairwell when he “kissed” my hand and when he held me
close while descending the banister. I can only imagine the torture he must have gone
through to be that near to a living person. I am still grateful for his saving my life, as the
monster on the roof would surely have a found a means to end it had Pathos not
intervened.
After his appearance in my rooms I was given two days in which to decide, with
precious little information, what course my future would take. Once again, in all honesty,
my current emotional state really allowed me few options. A more emotionally grounded
individual, which I would normally consider myself, would have either demanded more
information at our next meeting or would have avoided the meeting altogether and
headed safely back to England. Obviously, instead of fleeing, I met with Pathos once
again on the night of the next full moon. He appeared even more anxious and nervous
than I was feeling, which gives some indication of how much he had at hinging upon my
decision. Aside from the upheaval he had somehow wrought upon my emotions, as well
as my own desire to be helpful, there really weren’t any reasons for my being present.
We met a nearby hotel. Upon entering the room he had reserved for our
encounter, he opened a small carrying case and removed a small exquisitely carved glass
bottle3 and presented it to me. Within was the magical elixir that would forever change
not only my life, but me as well, for once I steeled myself to drink it down it became
obvious I could never again be the person who had walked into that room. The glass felt
cool within my grasp and as the liquid4 inside first hit my tongue it was cold as well.
Then a pool of heat began to build within my center and ripple outward in wave after

3
While my archaeological expertise deals mainly with prehistory Celtic artifacts and lithic structures, I
would place the bottle in the mid-1700s.
4
Pathos revealed later to me that the liquid inside the bottle was not any “magic potion,” but rather his
actual blood. Due to his mental pathology, he would not have been able to withstand having me near
enough to have carried out the transformation. The bottle, a gift from Nafriel, extracts the blood from his
body during a process involving a great deal of pain. The particular properties of the blood are then
preserved within the bottle for what I estimate to be less than one hour. In many ways, his initial investment
in our relationship seems to far exceed mine as my experience was nothing short of pure, intense pleasure
and his was pain and uncertainty.
Bridgette’s Report 6

wave of the most incredible sensations of pure pleasure. I would have crumpled to the
floor from the sheer intensity of it had Pathos not moved to hold me upright. It is possible
that not even he anticipated how strongly the elixir would affect me, for I detected
concern in his voice when I was once again able to notice such things. Scooping me up in
his arms, he carefully placed me in a nearby armchair and pried the now empty bottle
from my grasp. It is a testament to the thickness of the ancient glass that I did not crush it
during the height of my transformation.
At some point in the transformation, or in its after affects, I became extremely
aware of Pathos’ presence. It was as though he were everywhere, physically and
mentally. The suddenness of it was quite unsettling, and while I honestly welcomed an
opportunity to find myself within his arms, it was a welcome relief when he moved away
towards the other side of the room. I could still sense him quite present within my mind
and visibly jumped when his mental voice reminded him that I was now just as present
within his mind. Mentally reaching out I could indeed feel myself present inside his
mind, a decidedly unsettling feeling when first experienced.
Once I had recovered enough to sit upright and focus once more, he began to tell
me about himself and to better describe how he needed my help. The following
information about Pathos has been shared within a group meeting with my fellow
investigators, so I feel safe detailing it within the confines of this report. While I had
heard talk of time travel, I had never really given it much thought before this
conversation, for Pathos revealed himself to be a scientist from the future, where he had
been a sub-particle5 physicist. There was some sort of accident in his laboratory, when he
awoke it was to find himself in the year 1913 and composed of some strange silvery-
metallic substance. Simply put, he went mad. Labana, already a vampire although not yet
metallic, found him and nursed his tortured mind back to health. At some point she made
the decision to share her immortality with him, thereby creating what I believe to be the
first metallic vampire. At some point during this time, Labana uncovered the means to
transform herself into a being made of metal. Whether this was by design or by accident I
am not sure and it appears Pathos was still not in full control of his mental faculties as
yet, for he does not know the answer either. Unfortunately, some of the answers we seek
may have died for good with Labana.
Pathos wishes to become mortal flesh and blood once again. He also wishes to
return home, although it is a pointless endeavor unless the first two goals are
accomplished. The first wish, to be flesh and blood again, is probably the most pressing,
since in his current state it is a near intolerable torture to be around the living. Depending
upon the mental will of a metallic being, the heartbeat of a single, living person is enough
to send them into a homicidal madness. Pathos has made it a practice to keep a distance
between himself and the living, especially when he finds himself feeling overwhelmed by
the sound of so many heartbeats. He is of the belief that my talents in science will make it
possible to uncover the mechanics behind his transformations and the means to undo
them. I have come to realize that not only was trust a big force behind my transformation,
as he understandably feared I would turn his confidences against him towards his own

5
We know, currently, that atoms are made up of sub-atomic particles called neutrons, protons, and
electrons. Apparently those particles are made up of even smaller particles, which in turn are composed of
the even smaller particles that Pathos studied.
Bridgette’s Report 7

destruction and death, but he simply could not tolerate working with me while I still
lived.
He then went on to provide some of the details concerning my new nature, which
will be covered more indepth later on in this report. Not only would I no longer need
food, but furthermore its ingestion would probably leave me ill. Water and silver should
be avoided and sunlight and fire lead to a particularly horrible death. Perhaps the worst
condition I found myself needing to fulfill was a regular need, once or twice a week, to
feed upon the blood of a living human being. Fortunately there is no need to do more than
take a small quantity from the victim and it is, as far as I have observed, quite a pleasant
experience for them. Indeed, that first night, Pathos led me into the theatre district of
Chicago, instructing me as we went on the art of not only hunting a suitable donor but
also on the very act of feeding from them. It seems a weakness to admit how readily I
overcame any mental barriers to drinking human blood, but the moment I was close
enough for the very smell to reach me it became impossible to resist doing anything else.
I fear the day my will may fail me and I drink to excess of what is now, to me, the
most incredible substance upon earth. Pathos has cautioned me not to allow too much
time to pass between feedings, lest hunger take over. Experience has taught us both that
feeding every two to three days is best for maintaining control.
And so my narrative concludes and the scientific part of my report begins.
Overall, Pathos is as decent a human being he can be, given the fact that he is currently
not really human. I am quite sure he can be capable of great violence and he will take
necessary steps to defend himself, although it appears he prefers to simply stay apart
form others and remain all but invisible. They do not really need to play by our rules or
live by our laws, as long as they do not draw too much attention to themselves.6 I feel this
is partly due to the fact that vampires are at the same time invulnerable and yet quite
vulnerable. One must also remember that, as far as is known, unless something or
someone kills a vampire, they will indeed live forever.

6
I refer to vampires as “they” in this instance as my mind has not yet made the necessary mental leap to
fully identify with others of my new nature. While I am sure this transition will occur at some point in time,
my transformation has been fairly recent and I still very much keep the company of my mortal friends.
Bridgette’s Report 8

Observations and Research

Metallic Creatures
First off, not all vampires are composed of the metallic substance nor are all
metallic creatures vampires. In our investigations we have encountered a case where a
dog had been transformed into a metallic creature but it exhibited no signs of vampirism.
In reality, little is know about the silvery metallic creatures with any certainty.
The silvery-metallic vampire Pathos has been most informative. Knowledge that he has
shared probably makes up the majority of what is known.
Vampires created, or “sired” by a metallic vampire need not be metallic as well.
The author of this report is one such example and there are others.
While the mechanism for transforming a being into a metallic state is not yet
understood, a most curious occurrence has been observed, leading to several possible
hypotheses. While investigating a small town in rural Iowa, Pathos happened to become
ill at one of our discoveries, leading to his stomach divesting itself of whatever contents it
might have possessed. In this case it was a quantity of a viscous silvery substance not
unlike that of which he is composed. This substance immediately began flowing towards
every creature present with the exception of Pathos himself. All present found they were
struggling against an overwhelming desire to pick up and ingest a quantity of the
substance. This is similar to a report made by Mr. Walter Smith that during Charlie’s visit
to hospital where a metallic worm-like creature had been removed from Charlie. Mr.
Smith indicated that a similar mental struggle occurred then where he fought down an
overwhelming urge to swallow the creature. After managing to chain it to a lavatory sink,
the creature self-destructed in a manner similar to the explosion a dying metallic creature
creates.
Another common belief about the metallic creatures concerns their occasional
flesh-like appearance. In the past it has been believed that they were wearing the skins of
humans in an attempt to pass among them more easily. Thankfully this is not the
gruesome case. Any flesh found covering a metallic creature is indeed a part of its own
body. In a process not understood, they can will the flesh to appear. Microscopic
examination has show this skin to be apparently normal. Furthermore, any metallic
creature so covered in flesh has the same appearance they did while human. The only real
give away to something amiss is the creature’s apparently pupil-less silver eyes.
Aside from the possibility of a flesh covering, these beings appear composed
entirely of an unknown metal alloy and what appears to be the occasional bit of circuitry.
Further examination will have to await scientific technology catching up to the needs of
the problem, as there is currently no method available of an internal investigation.
If a metallic creature sustains enough lethal damage it explodes, destroying any
chance for further observation and study. Furthermore, so far there have been no
successful attempts to cage or safely contain such a creature. Their strength far exceeds
the limits of any known metals or other alloys.1
Perhaps the most pressing problem of metallic creatures is their animosity,
outright hatred even, of the living. Pathos has explained that it involves the sound of a

1
The author does possess one idea for a possible containment system, although it would require the subject
to also be vampiric in nature. Any experiments into such a system will be detailed in the future in an
appendix.
Bridgette’s Report 9

heartbeat, which, after prolonged exposure, becomes intolerable to them such that their
greatest desire is to be rid of the noise. This desire can easily trigger a homicidal rage of
horrific proportions, such as what happened in Iowa.
It has been noted that a newly created metallic vampire takes a period of
approximately two months to fully develop such pathology. Over that course of time they
become more and more vicious and violent towards their victims, often killing for what
appears to be the sheer pleasure of the experience. As was discovered during
investigations in Michigan and Minnesota2, it is possible to tell if the killer is a newly
created metallic vampire or a more experienced one based upon the damage done to the
victim. And while it is quite obvious they can kill quickly when needed, they begin to
enjoy playing with their victims, much like a terrifying game of cat and mouse. While
there are exceptions to this rule of violence3, they should be considered quite dangerous
simply because of this mental pathology.
Based upon observation, metallic animals tend to attack on sight and are
extremely dangerous.
As can be deduced from this brief discussion, there is plenty of room for more
research. Unfortunately, most of this research needs to await the development of better
technology.

Vampires
Vampires are essentially walking dead, as they no longer possess a pulse. Their
heart no longer beats, although they do have some system for the circulation of blood.
How this occurs is not understood.
With one known exception4, vampires need blood from a living donor and the
blood must be drunk directly from the donor. Experimentation has ruled out several
alternate paths for feeding. It is not known what affect any form of tainted blood might
have upon a vampire ingesting it.
A vampire needs to feed approximately once every week, although twice a week
is safer. There is no need to seriously harm or kill a donor. Actually, the donor seems to
find the experience pleasant enough, although it is doubted they actually realize what is
happening.
To say that a donor is not harmed is not the same as saying they have not been
changed in some way. As I discovered shortly after my initial meeting with Pathos, their
bite leaves behind some trace “pathogen” within the donor’s bloodstream. I have yet to
discover if there is a purpose for this pathogen’s presence or if it is merely a side-affect of
the feeding. This same pathogen was also present in the bodies examined in Illinois and
Michigan, in approximately the same ratio as mine.
It was discovered while looking at a sample of Charlie’s blood, thanks to the work
of Mr. Smith, that this pathogen is, in reality, a mutated red blood cell. It has been my
experience that the level of changed cells does not increase or decrease over time within
the donor.

2
Reports of all autopsies performed upon exsanquinated bodies should be available elsewhere.
3
Thus far, Pathos is the only known non-homicidal metallic vampire, having developed a method for
controlling his pathology.
4
Apparently Nafriel’s faith in Catholicism and God is such that he need only attend a mass and partake of
the sacrificial wine during communion to have his feeding needs met.
Bridgette’s Report 10

Once a person has been transformed into a vampire their blood stream contains
only mutated cells5 and none of the normal red blood cells. While holy water works to
dilute the blood sample, it has no noticeable affect upon the changed cells. Sunlight is
highly reactive, causing them to explode upon contact, although this only happens with
an exposed sample or when the subject coming into contact with the sunlight is a
vampire. This could be part of what gives the vampire its sensitivity to sunlight.
At the time of this writing, it is not yet known how a vampire is created.
Obviously some exchange of blood is involved since my own transformation involved the
ingestion of Pathos’ blood. However, it is also fairly certain that the events involved were
not entirely typical of a normal transformative process. The creation process itself, as
described in the narrative, is immeasurable pleasurable and possesses a certain degree of
intimacy.
Vampire Vulnerabilities: Vampires do indeed have several vulnerabilities that can
be used against them. It may be surprising to learn that a few of the most commonly held
beliefs concerning protection against vampires are actually pure fallacy probably
invented to ease the superstitious mind. To begin with, a wooden stake may cause its
victim a great deal of pain, but it will not necessarily kill him. Furthermore, holy water
and crosses6 affect a vampire no more than they do a mortal human. If a person is
actually seeking protection against vampires, then they should certainly not rely on these,
the usual offerings made popular by a certain novel.
Garlic does offer some little protection, but this is probably due to its use as a
food and in cooking. It has a strong food smell and as such has a nauseating affect7 upon
a vampire. As was stated in the narrative, vampires no longer need to ingest food.
Actually, eating food leaves them ill and quite likely to empty their stomachs in an
attempt to remove the offending substances from their systems.
Naturally running water brings a vampire to mischief as it exercises a paralyzing
affect of them. Such a vampire is trapped, waiting the rising of the sun or the further
actions of those who might be hunting him.
Silver is a curious case in that some vampires do not understand or believe in this
particular weakness. Pathos suggested that the warning against silver might be a holdover
from werewolf legends, since silver will kill such a creature. However, it is indeed a real
weakness for a vampire since silver is capable of inflicting real, lethal damage. This
injunction, like all of there others discussed here, is also true for the metallic vampires.
What will harm a regular vampire will also harm a metallic vampire.
Exposure to direct sunlight offers up a particularly ugly, violent death to a
vampire as they will essentially catch fire and possibly explode in reaction to the sun’s
warmth. While it is not yet understood what causes this reaction, it may have something
to do with the huge numbers of mutated red blood cells in the vampire’s body. It takes
only a few agonizing seconds before such a victim reaches the point of no return.

5
It is possible that such cells are particular to the vampire they come from. IF such is the case, then each
vampire would leave their own “fingerprint” behind whenever they feed.
6
I not only still own several crosses, but am often to be found wearing a particularly lovely crucifix given
to me by Nafriel as a gift upon our meeting.
7
Personal experience can verify this statement. A vampire will find the smell of garlic stronger than a non-
vampire. It is quite nauseating.
Bridgette’s Report 11

Flame is also extremely dangerous to a vampire, causing them to burn more easily
than a mortal.
Perhaps the most serious vulnerability facing a vampire is the need to sleep.
Often, I worked sixteen-hour days before my transformation. Now the sun’s arrive brings
a need to sleep – often for as long as the sun is up. Once in this asleep it is difficult to tell
a vampire from a fresh corpse since neither possess a pulse. While it is possible that an
older, more experienced vampire has some innate ability to wake up when sensing a
nearby threat, not all newly created ones are that lucky and it can be a bit unnerving.
Not all vampires are dangerous. Some merely wish to go about their lives
unmolested and usually undetected. The vulnerabilities discussed above are given to level
the playing field when dealing with those who do not fall into the “live and let live”
category and who are bent upon deadly mischief and destruction. It is mainly because of
the “gang” of metallic vampires who proceeded to wreck havoc across part of the upper-
mid-United States that I decided to put my knowledge into writing for Mr. Smith and
those he works with – so that they may better understand what we are, what we are
capable of, and what they are occasionally up against when in the field.
Certainly knowledge will continue to be gained, and this file will continue to
expand, as research and experimentation into Pathos’ condition are ongoing. Hopefully it
will one day be possible to aid those who are no longer happy with this existence.
Also in closing it should probably be noted that vampires may be gifted with an
inspired transformation similar to what some humans undergo. I had already be
“awakened” to z-wave energy before Pathos brought about my transformation and am
therefore not certain if that is always the case. It may be that a vampire was inspired
during their transformation, that the transformation later awakened a z-wave sensitivity
within them, or that they were already inspired and the vampiric transformation opened
up new inspired possibilities within. All things considered, it is probably best another
investigator look into what particular talents our kind might possess.
