I have had a very eventful June and July. Some of the highlights: my
trip to Moscow to join our own Russian Team for a few days in
Obninsk. It was great being with my church friends visiting the
church in Obninsk, a rehab centre and an orphanage.
I flew to a conference in Kyrgystan right on the beaches of Lake
Issykul. At the same time there was dreadful ethnic violence in the
south of the country. There were delays in entering the country but
marvellous to catch up with my Interserve colleagues, many of whom
I only knew via their emails.
I and a friend baptised my housemate in the bath. She belongs to a
house church but the people there had kept postponing her baptism
without reason. So, I made sure she understood what baptism
represented and the baptism proceeded. A great moment.
Everyone made sure my first summer birthday was a happy time.
We had a great lunch and then dinner out– with my Interserve
friends.
I have finished teaching two courses: my usual schedule is two 2-hour
classes with a half hour break in between. I am not teaching during
August.
