In this letter, Dallas Museum of Art director Bonnie Pitman responds to Chapman Kelley's "remove my painting" request. The painting is part of the current (through August 22, 2010) exhibition 'Coastlines: Images of Land and Sea.' Kelley says his painting "Sand Dune" (1960) was modified by "Coastlines" added-on audio effects. Students at the University of Texas at Dallas, ATEC, and Université du Sud Toulon-Var in Toulon, France collaborated with this exhibit. The Visual Artists Rights Act of 1990 provides for the right of attribution and integrity which Kelley says 'Coastlines' has violated. Visit www.chapmankelley.com artists advocacy tab to learn more of Kelley's activism.
