Important Rule Changes for 2010
Defines mixed team as a group of riders from mixedteams who compete for a specific event together, and clarifiesthat their regular teams may not be entered.
Defines para-cycling as racing for cyclists withdisabilities defined by the UCI
Clarifies definition of youth race to include track andcyclocross races
Establishes that National Championships for junior17-18, U23, and Elites will be run under UCI rules
Clarifies minimum number of riders necessary toearn upgrading points in MTB races
Establishes officials position of Assistant Chief Referee,who will oversee part of an NRC race, such as being
responsible for the Elite Women‟s event while the principalChief Referee is running the Elite Men‟s event
Establishes guidelines and procedures for closely relatedteams and clubs wanting to enter the same race
Clarifies prize breakdowns for special classificationsin stage races
Establishes a rule that an organizer may specify that
start legal” bicycles are requ
ired for a given timetrial event
Adds a caveat to junior gear restrictions exempting U17riders competing in certain team track events from the gearrestriction
Adds the ban on radios to riders participating in a racespecifically for U23 riders
Clarifies that on the track, two warnings equals adisqualification from the specific track event being ridden
Clarifies rules for dropped riders in criteriums
Clarifies free lap rule in criteriums, specifying thatthe rider must be back in for the final 8 Km
Establishes a default way of judging when there shouldbe a new time in group finish in a stage race
