Cub Cheers: Congratulations to the students in Mr. Orths Class they did our
Friday Announcements and were fabulous! Congratulations to the following
students for receiving Cox Cub of the Week: Evan Borzellino, Jayna Yokono,
Anastasia Jeffic, Jaelyn Deck, Daniel Murphy, Alina Macandog,
William Villagomez, Bailey Winning, Rylan Harry, Catherine Karsaz,
Addilyn Marschner, and Jia Li.

National Walk & Bike to School Day: Thank you to our Cub Leadership Students
for helping with the event we had over 100 students walking/biking/ scootering to
school that day!

Did you know? We have parent volunteers who help us every day with
lunchroom duty, selling at snack shack, and playground supervision? They are so dedicated, we love them, and huge thank
yous go out to them!!! If youd like to join our lunchroom team just come on in! We could always use the help too out
front during drop-off and dismissal. We even have super fun neon vests you can wear to help with the parking lot!

Congratulations to our School: David Cox is being recognized and was asked to present at the State Board meeting on
Thursday, October 12th regarding our outstanding Read by Grade 3 program! We were the only elementary school to be
honored for Southern Nevada and our program and Instructional Strategist, Mrs. Beatty, are considered to be exceptional!

DMC Bike Rodeo 2017: What a fantastic event!!! Thank you


parents for helping with the Bike Rodeo, our PTA for funding it, and
Mr. Bollard and his family for organizing the event. The kids had so
much fun and went through the stations like
pros!

PTA News: Our Box Tops is underway and the Pizza Contest for classes runs through October 13th. Box Tops are
found on almost everything purchased from a grocery store and listed items can be found at
http://www.boxtops4education.com/ear/participating-products. There is also a Box Tops app you can load into your
phone and can your receipt for immediate rewards. We get credit for BOTH scanned receipts and clipped box tops, one
shopping trip could earn close to $6.00 for our school. Did you know our school PTA is registered with Amazon Smile?
When you shop on Amazon a small portion of your purchase made comes to our school when youre on smile.amazon.com.
You still can use it for Amazon Prime too! Did you know that theres a program called Shoparoo? Its an app for your
phone in which you scan your store (any store) receipt and the school earns money! Theres a lot of programs to help fund our
school and we are always looking for ways to get money into our classrooms and programs!
First Quarter Ends Friday: Parents, Friday, 10/13, is the end of the first quarter (half way through our first semester
already)! You should be expecting an updated progress report and if you child is earning a D, F, or N in the specialist
classes or their home room then youll be receiving an unsatisfactory notice which will need your signature and returned to
teacher. Remember that you need to refresh the Infinite Campus app on your smart phones when checking grades, even if
you check daily.
