Haikus

By Austin Mullins

Those who can, do; those

Who can’t, I don’t know, but I’d
Bet they do not teach

It is hard to say
What makes someone great, but it’s
Probably the clothes

I commute from home

Five days of the week, but then
I drive back home six

You’re fine if learning

Once you stop learning, you will
Soon forget it all

You’re a Zen master

When you are really not, wow
That’s Zen; or is it?

Why do those who buy

The highest towers pay for
Others to climb them?

Measure success by
Money , and you will soon find
All is not success

Know that financial

Blessings are never lasting
Blessings on Earth

America has
Had a Golden Age of sorts
But this too shall pass

If we only grade
Students by rubric, I fear
They won’t learn a thing

Some think grades are harsh

I beg to differ, unclear
Expectations are

In work, you’re rarely

Told when you are failing, no
They just stop talking

We’re all just time bombs

Some of us explode, but most
Simply fizzle out

Hint: it’s a riddle

We can’t begin to solve the
Problems we don’t have

Who is your God, or

What is God like? How does One
Know that He is God?

Can you tell if you

Have any super-powers
Uncommon to man?

Where does God go when

You cease to believe in Him?
Does He watch you leave?

My question is this:
Whether I believe in God
Does He believe me?

Nature abhors a
Blanket almost as much as
It abhors vacuums

I prefer haiku
It requires one to limit
One’s words a great deal

I believe I can
Say anything I need to
In the haiku form

Writing a long phrase

Is much faster than saying
More with fewer words

A good instructor
Must always take care to do
Less than the student

I am elitist
Because I think I may know
More than my students
In the search for truth
It is quite hard to stop at
Merely finding it

What is the answer

To the question of life, the
Universe, et al?

Forty-two, but we
Need to find the question next.
What is six by nine?
