I am my owntestimony that childrendo understand the messageof salvation and their livescan be impacted even atsuch an early age.

ob Bugh,
Senior Pastor
If Go’s Spirit is not in our planning an processes…all our plans an programs ill not begin to make thekin of eternal ierence that changes the lies anestinies of men an omen, boys an girls.
It

is that time of year at Wheaton Bible Church whenwe return, renew, refresh, regroup, and recommit. It is time to push our ministry “restart” buttons. Actually, restart is the wrong word. Our ministries have neverstopped. While I was on my two-month sabbatical and many of youwere vacationing, our ministry teams were planning, studying, rehearsing, and in every way preparing for the ministry year thatis now upon us. So, to be more accurate, our ministries reallyare pushing their “forward” or even “fast forward” buttons. We do so after completing a thorough ministry-planning process, begun last spring and aimed primarily at aligningall that we do with our mission as a church. So, we are ready. The plans, people, and priorities are in place. But wait—I am reminded that it’s possible for us to be
organized
but not
blessed
. We can make detailed—even clever and creative—plans. But if God’s Spirit is not in our planning and processes, if we arenot surrendered to His will and His purpose, all our plans and programs will not begin to make the kind of eternal difference thatchanges the lives and destinies of men and women, boys and girls. It is His work we are doing in and through this church, and for thatreason we must depend on His guidance and submit our plans and preparations to His hand. James 4:13–16 puts it all in perspective:Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow wewill go to this or that city, spend a year there, carryon business and make money.” Why, you do not evenknow what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while andthen vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is theLord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” As itis, you boast and brag. All such boasting is evil.So we commit this year to Him. Walking by the Spirit andrecognizing that He is Lord of All. Asking Him to lead usas a church. Seeking to be wise and creative stewards of His resources, completely relying on Him, trusting in His provision, and resting in His will—and giving Him the gloryfor all that He accomplishes in and through our church andits ministries this year.In His matchless grace,Rob Bugh, Senior Pastor
