Foreword
Deloitte and Newmark Knight Frank (NKF) present this white paper on Wisconsin’seconomic development competitiveness. “Be Bold Wisconsin: The WisconsinCompetitiveness Study” has been developed through a collaborative eort betweenDeloitte and NKF over the past 6 months. This independent, non-partisan study wascommissioned by the Wisconsin Economic Development Association (WEDA), CompetitiveWisconsin, Inc. (CWI), and the Wisconsin Counties Association (WCA), and wasadministered by the Wisconsin Economic Development Institute (WEDI).The paper aims to inorm decision makers in government, academia, and industry o howWisconsin compares to selected benchmark states and across specic industry clusters interms o economic development strategy, capabilities, operating costs, and conditions.Deloitte and NKF leveraged both primary and secondary research sources, as well as ourcollective experience in guiding hundreds o organizations with expansion, location, andredeployment strategies.The ndings and recommendations contained in the study are meant to oer controllable,deensible, executable, and measurable strategies to improve Wisconsin’s competitivenessas a place to do business and create jobs.
