OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME : 
The World Health Organization (WHO) is supporting the Ministry of Health (MOH) collaborative programin Indonesia to promote the appropriate organization and effective operation of a comprehensivetuberculosis control programme for the entire population to attain the objective of reducing transmissionof tuberculosis by implementing Directly Observed Treatment, Short-Course (DOTS) in line with theNational 5 year Strategic Plan and to support research activities to improve tuberculosis control.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:Organizational context :
The incumbent will; Support the central level of National Tuberculosis Programme (NTP) in theimplementation and acceleration of DOTS activities under 5 Years Strategic Plan of the NTP with specialfocus on the strengthening of Paediatric TB, TB/HIV collaborative activities at central, provincial anddistrict level; Assist NTP in developing guidelines/manuals and training modules on TB/HIV, tuberculintest and plans in collaboration with key partners, and participate in TB training activities wheneverrequired or requested; Participate in the planning of strategies on TBIHIV and infection control asrequested by NTP in collaboration with key technical partner; Support monitoring and evaluations ofactivities in the field on request of the NTP, by undertaking regular field visits to the provinces anddistricts, along with the NTP staff, and submit reports of the findings and recommendations; Assist instrengthening and streamlining TB surveillance activities in order to improve the recording and reportingsystem, with special emphasis on capturing data related to TB/HIV; Perform any other tasks pertaining tothe NTP linked programmes as required by the WHO representative or the WHO medical officer for TB.
Main objectives and achievements expected :
Under the supervision of the Medical Officer (TB) and the WHO Representative in Indonesia, and incollaboration with the National TB Program, the incumbent will carry out the followingduties:1. Support the Ministry of Health in the implementation and acceleration of DOTS activities includingMDR-TB DOTS Plus, in the National TB Control Programme in line with the national 5 year strategicplan;2. Provide technical assistance to support monitoring and evaluation of activities in the field, byundertaking regular fields visits to the provinces and districts, accompanied by one of the Central TBunit staff, and submit reports of the findings and recommendations;3. Assist in developing training materials, manuals and curricula for the programme;4. Participate in the TB training activities;5. Participate in the planning of strategies to scale up activities in the programme as needed;6. Contribute to the formulation of the annual Plan of Action;7. Help in monitoring the expenditure of the WHO supported projects;8. Assist in strengthening and streamlining TB surveillance activities in order to improve the recordingand reporting system;9. Assist in the conduct and implementation of TBCAP supported activities;10. Perform any other tasks pertaining to the National TB Control Programme as required by WR or
