MEMORANDUM OF INTERVIEW

Re:

Susan WALKER Employee Number: 32248

Case No:

8171

Date:

June 17, 2010

Time:

10:00 a.m.

Place:

Dallas ISO Human Resources Building

Persons Present: Gail Reed, interviewee Rex Stewart, 1 nspector

In response to questions, Gail Reed, Coordinator-Staffing in Human Resources, provided the foliowing information relating Susan Walker and her selection as principal of Bryan Adams High School:

1. Reed has been with Dallas ISO for approximately 9 years.

2. The selecting official for the principal's position at Bryan Adams High School would either be Donna Micheaux or Dr. Hinojosa. Reed believed that Dr. Hinojosa could have selected any of the four candidates that were interviewed by the panel.

3. Reed did not believe that it was proper for someone to be on the interviewing panel if that person was listed as a personal reference for one of the applicants that were being interviewed.

4. Reed said that Susan WALKER should have filed a Family Relationship Disclosure form when was selected for the position if she had not filed one with the application. Reed said that no one in HR checked to see that the farm was filed with the application, even though it was a Board requirement to file the form with the application. A review of all the applications showed that 5 district employees and one outside employee filed the family relationship

disclosure form. The form is on the reverse side of the Letter of Interest form supplied by Human Resources.

5. Reed said that the selection form that had Susan WALKER'S name on it was the only one she had received Of seen.

6. Reed said that as the applications came in for the announced position, Ronnie Thompson collected them and set them to the learning community for the selection process to begin.

7. Reed said she would copy the personnel file of Susan Walker which would be ready for pickup on June 21, 201 D.

This memorandum was prepared by Inspector Rex Stewart from notes made during the interview.

Date:

June 16, 2010

Time:

9:00 a.m.

Place:

Office of East Secondary Learning Community

Persons Present: Debra Martinez, Interviewee Rex Stewart, Inspector

In response to questions, Debra Martinez, Office Manager for the East Secondary Learning Community, provided the following information relating Susan Walker and her selection as principal of Bryan Adams High School:

1. Martinez has been with Dallas ISD for approximately 16 years.

2. After the 4 applicants for the principal's position were interviewed by the interviewing panel, a form is sent over to Dr. Micheaux's office with a recommended selection and their resume.

3. In the case of the Bryan Adams position, the first form that was sent to DL Micheaux had the name of Lynn \lIJhitaker and the recommended selection. The learning community received a call from Micheaux's office or the Superintendent's office and said that the recommendation was denied and to send over another name. This was either the same day or the next day after the interviews were compieted. A new recommendation form was sent over that had the name of Susan WALKER as the recommended selection.

4. Martinez did not believe that Sheri Beach left her interview forms with the selection package. If the forms were not in the interview package, then she took them with her.
