    The City of Roanoke has called a Local Option Election on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 for the following:

     For/Against  “The legal sale of all alcoholic beverages for off-premise consumption only.”

    A petition was turned in to the City Secretary’s office on July 21, 2010 with a total of 510 signatures.

    I was able to verify 458 of those signatures as registered voters in the City of Roanoke.

    The required number of signatures was 35% (246) of the (702) registered voters that voted in the last
    gubernatorial election.
