“Let’s press on in faith!”
Our church meeting last Sunday….
It is always a joy and privilege to meet together as Church
Members to attend to all that is before us as followers of Jesus.
Here are some highlights….
Finance: Jon reported on a slow down in offerings and the
need for faithful giving.
Bus sale: the preparation for sale under way
Mission Support group: Norm & Karen Roberts will be with us Sunday
24.10.10 with speakers for our Missions Month arranged. Dates are set for
work party to NT. John thanked those who helped with plane fares to Russia.
Church Building Project: the application for our Planning Permit proceeding

slowly. To assist in negotiations with Council, we formally prohibited the
provision/consumption of alcoholic beverages on site and established times
for building usage.

Building target: we set two new giving goals Target #1: Excavation, slab and
services, $225,000; Target #2: Frame of building, roofing, drainage $310,000.
A Special Visit: as indicated in last week’s bulletin, Pastor John Bell, Harare

Baptist Church will be our special guest Sunday 26.09.10 with a special presentation after the service. Bruce and Sue will be leading a service of preparation on Sunday 12.09.10.

Our constitution: the following clause was added to our constitution:Persons

who were members prior to the adoption of this constitution (22.11.2009) and are
unable to present their response card in a worship service because of location, age or
health are deemed to be in continuing membership of the church.

Our Ministry to our Older Friends: we continue to enjoy an open door of
ministry at Lewis Court, Seaview House and Harbourside Lodge. But helpers
are needed for the leadership teams. There is also some paperwork for helpers.
Our Church Review: the deacons are now addressing the recommendations
and will be convening at least one Special Church Meeting in the New Year.
Diaconate: the number of deacons was increased to eight from our next AGM.
The Lamberts: Jon advised that, after extended consideration and prayer, his

family would be relocating to West Gippsland in time for the start of the 2011 school year. Their contribution to our life as a people has been strategic: music, finance, missions. Special prayer was offered for them with initial thanks being expressed.

Report Evening
Tonight!! At 6:30pm

Mayor Gilbert will be receiving a gift from the Mayor of Obninsk. Also, we will be opening for the first time the gift which Pastor Alexey has sent to us. No one has seen what it is apart from the Customs Officer at Tullamarine who inspected the frame. There will be many pictures and stories. Hear about our very special friend, Alexey, and his people.

Please bring a plate for supper.
Congratulations!

To our good friend Jim Blake as he celebrates his 70th birthday Today! Jim and

Judy
have
brought a special

touch to our fellowship and we are thankful for the many ways in which they contribute to our life together. Jim is a most diligent and helpful Church Secretary and we thank the Lord for his service. We now look forward to his next decade of service!!

To Matt Harris who arrived this week. Continue to pray for Matt as he seeks further medical advice.
