ABOUT THE BOOK
This is the first monograph on the geometry of locally anisotropic phy-sics. The main subjects are in the theory of field interactions, strings anddiffusion processes on spaces, superspaces and isospaces with higher orderanisotropy and inhomogeneity. The approach proceeds by developing theconcept of higher order anisotropic (super)space which unify the logicaland manthematical aspects of modern Kaluza–Klein theories and gener-alized Lagrange and Finsler geometry and leads to modelling of physicalprocesses on higher order fiber (super)bundles provided with nonlinear anddistinguished connections and metric structures. The view adopted is that ageneral field theory should incorporate all possible anisotropic and stochas-tic manifestations of classical and quantum interactions and, in consequence,a corresponding modification of basic principles and mathematical methodsin formulation of physical theories. This book can be also considered as apedagogical survey on the mentioned subjects.
ABOUT THE AUTHORSergiu Ion Vacaru
was born in 1958 in the Republic of Moldova. He was educated at the Universities and Research Institutes of the formerURSS (in Tomsk, Moscow, Dubna and Kiev). After receiving his Ph.D.in theoretical physics in 1994 at ”Al. I. Cuza” University, Ia¸si, Roma-nia, he was employed as scientific worker and associate professor at variousacademic institutions. At the present time he is senior researcher at theInstitute of Applied Physics, Academy of Sciences of Moldova, and fullprofessor of theoretical physics at the Institute for Basic Research (PalmHarbour, FL, U. S. A. and Molise, Italy). He is a member of the Ameri-can Mathematical and Physical Societies, and a referee and editor of vari-ous International Scientific Journals. He has published more than hundredscientific works and communications on generalized Finsler and Kaluza–Klein (super)gravity and strings, differential (super)geometry, spinors andtwistors, locally anisotropic stochastic processes and conservation laws incurved spaces, quantum field and geometric methods in condensed matterphysics, isogeometry and isogravity, geometric thermodynamics and kinet-ics. Dr. Vacaru is also deeply involved in the problems of Human Rights inthe post–soviet New Independent States.2
