LAID OFF

Matamoros has always been a city of people who stays until they’re able to get
across the international bridge. Few people who stayed had only one way of
making money. The only reasonable way of doing this is working at a factory
which by the way had a very low salary and non-benefits. Consequently, the
workers weren’t very happy, they were always complaining of how miserable
the salary was of or how stressed they were for not being able to sustain a
decent life for their family. Besides that, there were rumors referring that the
company that was their only way of living would eventually move to another city.
In other words they will be left with nothing else but to cross the river and risk
their lives for an uncertain future. Because of this rumor most of the workers felt
unsupported by the union. In the same way they also felt lonely and rejected for
the company they served so much.

As a result, of not receiving support from the union neither the company, the
group of workers that were more affected started a riot. After, the riot that
they’ve started many workers started to realize how bad they were treated, so
just in the same way, many other group workers did the same resulting, the
biggest riot the city would ever see. They riot that those noble and honored man
made had a great effect on the company obviously; the companies were tired of
losing money because of all the workers that stopped working. Thus, the
companies gather to discuss with the now called united workers for terms of
agreement of the new law for employees.

Conclusion: This assignment had me thinking over new concepts that offices
use in everyday work, also working with prepositions gave me the notion of time
in many places or different situations. Finally, looking for words that best
described experiences at a job was really interesting and so it was making up
an essay that gave a whole new vocabulary to use in offices or at any job.
