OCTOBER
: Articles for the October issue to be handed in by 12th September.Publication: 26th September. E-mail your articles to parishmagstjohns@gmail.com,put them in the editor’s pigeon hole in the church entrance, or post them to LouiseRussell at Fircroft, Furzefield Road, East Grinstead, West Sussex, RH19 2JN.I was delighted to find an inboxoverflowing with articles for thismonth’s magazine—even afterdeleting all the spam—which sadlydidn’t make the final edition. So if thesummer issue was a skinny edition, this is definitely the full fat version. There are some great updates onwhat’s been happening over thesummer, and a lot planned for theautumn, so do have a peruse.

Rust in Peace
My shed and roller lean together for mutual support. The roller has an honourable history. This includeshelping the residents to convert the unmade-up Limes to a proper road withverges in 1967 under the direction of Tim Clark. It had previously been rolled around my father's 'Dig For Victory' allotment at St. Phillip's, Norbury; our modest garden near All Saints, Sanderstead and, with Joan, our first attempt to flatten the clay out of Hurst-an-Clays and to molest the moles of Felbridge. It now Rusts in Peace so there are no tears, shed.
