Years later weare seeing thissong fulfilled asevangelists, pastors, teachersand Christianworkers arebringing theglorious news of salvation through Jesus Christeverywhere. Some of the most effective tools we have seen over the yearsto reach people with the Gospel are hand wind tape players. It’s been truly amazing how God has used this simple tool toreach tens of thousands of people in their own language.Over the past fourteen years VBB has partnered with GlobalRecordings ministry to bring the Gospel on tape to manypeople who have never heard of Jesus Christ and His gift of salvation in their native language. We have provided over10,000 hand wind tape players to reach people in manycountries throughout SE Asia with the Gospel. Over 5,000 of these have gone into Nepal, Northeast India, Bhutan andBangladesh, 1,000 to China and the other players have goneinto parts of Africa, South America and Mexico. Many of theremaining players are being hand carried into Vietnam toreach tribal people with the message of salvation.
NEPAL
In Nepal there are over 25 million people speaking over 145languages and dialects, and many of them are illiterate. Themajority of the people live in villages where there is noelectricity or batteries. The hand wind tape players haveproved to be a great tool to reach these people with theGospel. We are receiving reports that whole villages havecome to faith in Jesus Christ through hearing the Gospel onone player. In one area of Nepal over 1,500 people came to faith in JesusChrist through 16 hand wind tape players. In another area ayoung Hindu man heard the Gospel for the first time usingthe player. He immediately gave his life to Jesus Christ andtrusted Him ashis Lord andSavior. His familykicked him out of the house forbecoming aChristian, but hetook the playerand has played itwith the Gospelmessage for over1,000 people. In another area of Nepal a man rode the bus for a long timebefore arriving in Kathmandu to get a tape player throughour contact. (This is not like a ride on an American bus, withthe chickens and goats accompanying the merchants on thebus, no air conditioning, and the second level of the busbeing open to the elements and more than a little hazardouson the curvy mountain roads.) He received a player from ourcontact along with a cassette containing the Gospel in hislanguage, and began the long bus trip back to his village. Onthe way, the bus crashed and the tape player was demolished. Not easily discouraged, he headed back to the city to getanother player. At our contact’s office, he was questioned asto why he needed another player and he told his story. Theygave him another player and he returned to his village. Uponarriving, he played the Gospel cassette on the player for the
When I was a young man, long before I was saved at theage of eighteen,I remember singing this song at Christmasand would imagine people climbing mountains and hills tobring the good news of Jesus Christ all over the world.
GO TELL IT ON THE MOUNTAINS,OVER THE HILLS AND EVERY WHERE.GO TELL IT ON THE MOUNTAINS THATJESUS CHRIST IS BORN!

people of his village. Hearing the Gospel for the first-time,all the members of his village put their faith and trust in JesusChrist. An interesting story of cultural differences resulted from thehand wind tape player ministry to the Raute tribe. Thisgroup is a nomadic people that has been an outreach effortfor 20 years for our contact. At last the confidence of theRaute people had been gained to the point that their king andthree others came to Kathmandu to help with the translationof parts of the Bible intheir language. Theyhad never been to alarge city before anddrew a lot of attentionsince they do not wearmuch clothing and donot practice muchpersonal hygiene. They stayed with our contacts in Nepal and preferredsleeping and lounging in the garden area. While visiting thezoo, the Raute people could not understand why the monkeyswere there, as their belief is that the monkey was put on earthas the tribal food supply. Strangely enough, the monkeysseemed to know that they were meat for the Raute, becausethey became frightened with the Raute there. They hadbrought carved wooden bowls for any necessary purchases,as they do not use any form of currency. When they found out that the Prime Minister of Nepal was inKathmandu, the Raute King wanted to meet him, believingthat the Nepal ‘king’ would want to meet with him, sincethey were both government leaders. Our contact had a hardtime explaining that this couldn’t be done.
