Setting Wireless LAN

You can enjoy wireless Internet in the place where the wireless Access Point is installed (Hot Spot). After inserting

the wireless LAN card into the CompactFlash Slot of YOPY, set the wireless LAN setting window.

Inserting the card
Insert the wireless LAN card into the CF slot of the YOPY.

The wireless LAN setting screen appears when tapping [Start] => [Network] => [WLAN Config].

Profile
1. Creating New Profile
Tap [Profile] on the WLAN Settings screen. There is the “Default” profile.

If you want to create new profile, tap [New] button.

2. General Setting of New Profile

Profile Name
You can designate the profile name of setting wireless LAN environment.

SSID
This is the name of the wireless LAN network group. You can see the list of APs around you when tappingthe

“Search” button. Select one among them.

Mode
There are two working modes such as “Infrastructure” and “AdHoc”.

Infrastructure is the mode that enables the YOPY to be connected to internet through AP around it.

AdHoc is the mode that enables communication to be possible between the devices.

Channel
You can set channel when you use AdHoc mode.

The devices should be on the same channel so that they may communicate with each other.

Power Saving
You can use power of the battery efficiently when you turn the mode “On”.

You can save power of the battery with the turned on mode as the YOPY gets into the sleep mode when there is no

data communication. But communication speed could be a little bit slow for a second at the time you restart

communication from the sleep mode.

3. WEP Setting
You can set encryption on the following screen.

WEP mode : AP should be operated by the Encryption mode to activate

the WEP function. The WEP function starts to work immediately you
select either ‘64 Bits’or ‘128 Bits’in the WEP mode.
WEP is the encryption between AP and Station and so the WEP key should be

applied between AP and Station without discrepancy. ‘Disable’ means that the

encryption is not set

Auth Type : Authority Type is meaningful only when the WEP Mode is set by
either 64 Bits or 128 Bits.

Key Settings : Key number for communication

Now, new profile is created.

Status
It shows the current status of connection. It describes the status of connection

between wireless LAN card and AP, and information on setting.

Survey
You can get information on the APs that are available around the current place

tapping the “Survey” button. Your device is connected to the AP(SSID) when

tapping “OK” button after selecting the AP. It normally takes about 3 seconds

for connection.

IP Setting
You can set IP after tapping [Start] Menu => [Network] => [Network]

You should enter “USE automatic IP” into the “Setting” box if the AP

automatically assigns IP to the device (DHCP).

If you want to see whether the IP is automatically assigned, you can do it

checking the IP address on the Current Wireless Lan Setting screen.

As you cannot communicate if the IP is automatically not assigned, you should

set “Use static IP”, “IP Address, Subnet, Gateway, DNS”, etc.
