WHO IS MY NEIGHBOR?
Each of us in the journey
through mortality will travel
his own Jericho Road. What
will be your experience?
What will be mine? Will I
fail to notice him who has
fallen among thieves and re-
quires my help? Will you?
Will I be one who sees the
injured and hears his plea, yet
crosses to the other side?
Will you? Or will I be the
one who sees, hears, who
pauses, and who helps? Will
you? We can change Jericho
to a place nearby—a school,
workplace or sidewalk that
leads us home. The “certain
man” could be a child who is
neglected, ignored or aban-
doned. He or she could be a
retired person, a widow or an
inexperienced youth. The
thieves could be slick talking
promoters, shoplifters, gang-
sters, those who bully—
anyone who would drag us
down. The priests and Le-

MY NEIGHBOR? A
neighbor is one who will
serve a stranger without cere-
mony. A neighbor is one who
does not flee disaster but lin-
gers to examine and relieve
distress. A neighbor is one
who may be lonely and de-
spised yet is compassionate.
A neighbor is one who acts
generously out of love, not
out of duty alone. A neighbor
is one who refuses slander by
good deeds. A neighbor is
one who thinks well of him-
self and loves others as him-
self. A neighbor is one who
sees his fellowmen not as
Jews, Levites, or priests—but
as men—one who thinks of
himself as a man among men
who are equal in the sight of
volunteer seamstresses. Please
turn in all jackets to the Service
Room by September 15th, (even
if they are not completed) so
that they can be inventoried, com-
pleted if necessary, and delivered
to the school children before the
cold weather sets in.
