As beaches go both Kata and Karon are better than Patong, a bit quieter, withless nightlife and entertainment. The smallest of Phuket's three main tourist beaches, Kata is very different inappearance and style from Karon and Patong Beaches. The beach itself isbroad, gracefully curved, and bordered by low-rise structures. The waters areperfect for swimming, and include a vibrant and lively coral reef at the northend, stretching out toward Koh Poo, which lies about half a km offshore.Facilities catering to every price range in clude hotels, bungalows, tourcompanies, restaurants, bars, and clubs. The Beach is served by a regular dailybusservice to and from PhuketTown. The pleasant bay of Kata, just a few minutes south of
Karon Beach
, enticesand charms many visitors with its white sands and clear waters. Very popularwith families, Kata is an all round favourite due to its spectacular palm-linedbeach, great restaurants, lively but not raucous nightlife and variedaccommodation options - all close to the beach. From May to October surfersflock to catch Kata's waves and from November to April the beach is alive withsunseekers.Kata is split into two focal areas: Kata Centre, which is at the northern endclose to Karon and Kata South, home to several resorts. Kata Beach is many people's favourite beach in Phuket. Stunningly beautifulwith surfing from May to October, from November to April surfing is replacedby snorkeling and sunbathing and other watersports. The beach is palm linedand fairly busy but never too crowded to be annoying. In the high season, yachts moor just offshore, adding to the ambience and the sunsets here aresome of the best in Thailand. Restaurant lined or tree lined, there's a perfectspot for everyone at Kata.
View of Kata Noi Bay, Kata Yai Bay and Karon bay. Over the next hill is Patong Bay with its famous nightlife, shops, big hotels and sweeping stretch of sand.
