Report should be composed and written in M.S. OFFICE (Microsoft


word, Excel etc)

Internship Weekly Report Format
Note: Weekly report should be submitted on a specific day of the week.
That day will be mutually decided by the faculty advisor and the intern.
This weekly report should be composed and written in M.S. OFFICE
(Microsoft word, Excel etc) and sent to faculty advisor by way of an
attachment to e-mail. The format of attached document: title should look
like this “WR1Name if student. Doc.” the next weekly report should be
titled as WR 2, and so on until reach weekly report number 06 and/or 08
for the internship program.

Below is an example of weekly report

Please note the following part of the report:


a) Personal information-WR1 along with your name, semester,
course, name of the organization and the calendar date for the
week.

b) Report must include the number of hours, date and the day of
the week in bold.

Remember you will have a space in the last part of the form to give
your feedback and reactions to the week.

Note: Keep these report in safe custody and turn in at the end of the
semester.

Suggested Outline for Presentation

The presentation should highlight the major section of your written


Department of Management Sciences (DMS) Internship Report. The
presentation should be in Multi Media and follow the suggested format
below:

1. Title (1 slide): your name, the host organization, and your job title.
2. Introduction (1 slide): Mission statement or background of the
host organization.
3. Objective of Internship (1 slide)
4. Methods, Skills, and Technology (3 to 4 slides)
5. Results (3 to 4 slides)
6. Conclusion (1 to 2 slides)
7. Graphics (1 to 5 slides): Include photographs of you working in
the field, maps, report covers, diagrams, and other photographs as
necessary to augment your presentation.

Guide Lines for Internship Program

To ensure the quality and consistency, the faculty advisors and interns are
responsible to follow the Internship guide lines in letter and spirit.

Criteria for Internship Approval

1. Internship being equivalent to a 3 credit hour course. Therefore, it


requires 6-8 weeks of practical work in an organization of national
or multinational repute.

2. The assignment of internship organization requires the approval


of the faculty advisor. No student has the right to choose an
organization without the formal written approval of the faculty
advisor.

3. Internship involving potential conflict of interest is not allowed


e.g. working in a small family business would not be acceptable.

4. Practical work requirement of internship program is acceptable in


an organization where a student is already employed subject to
the approval of the Head, Department of Management Sciences.
In this regard students are directed to submit an application
along with the profile of Employer/Organization. However, to earn
the full credit for internship, such students will be required to
fulfill all other requirements of the evaluation criterion.

5. Any extension in the period of internship will require an approval


from the Head, Department of Management Sciences on
recommendation of the faculty advisor.
Responsibilities of Faculty Advisor

1. Faculty advisor will act as a liaison between the student and on site
supervisor. He/She will help the student in resolving internship related
issue and problem.

2. Faculty advisor will ensure the timely joining of students to the


assigned organizations.

3. Faculty advisor is required to arrange at least on formal visit to the


intern’s organization for getting feed back of the organization. To
undertake such activities faculty advisor can requisite the vehicle of CIIT.
In case of some practical limitation in visiting the organization the faculty
advisor must establish a telephonic liaison with the management of
intern’s organization. However, in such cases the faculty advisor must
seek the approval of HOD.

4. Faculty advisors will ensure the on-site supervisors fill the Student
Evaluation Form.

5. If required faculty advisor will recommend the extension in the


internship period for the approval of the Head, DMS.

6. The student will submit the final report to the faculty advisor and
he/she will finally evaluate the progress of the intern and award Grade to
the intern.

7. Faculty advisor will be responsible to provide the Generic Report


Format to the assigned intern and make sure that intern must submit
his/her internship report with in Two Weeks of internship completion.

8. On satisfactory evaluation of the report, the faculty advisor will


arrange the viva voce by a committee of at least three faculty members
within a week from the submission of final internship report.

9. If the faculty advisor does not satisfy with the quality of report then
he/she will return the reports to the intern with his/her comment. The
interns will be required to resubmit the report after required corrections.

10. Faculty advisor shall submit the evaluation grades of the assigned
interns with in six weeks of completion of internship program.

If intern fail to submit the required internship in the


stipulated time the faculty advisor will assign the “I” grade
which subsequently changed into the ‘F’ Grade after two
weeks last date of submission of the result given to the
faculty advisor by the Department of Management Sciences.

11. The faculty advisor must submit the internship result within
last date of the result submission to the HOD office and duly
receive the receiving of the said document.
Role of the JPC:

1. JPC will liaison with the reputable organization for seeking the
internship/placement appointments for the MBA/BBA students.

2. The JPC will also solicit the CVs of all potential interns and to prepare
a database.

3. The JPC will assign the interns various available organization while
matching the career goals of the interns with the needs of the
organization.

4. The JPC will monitor the over all progress of the Internship program.

Role of the Intern:

1. The intern is required to join the assigned organization as per given


schedule to the respective faculty advisor.

2. After joining the organization, the intern is required to submit a copy


of the joining report to the respective faculty advisor.

3. The primary supervisor of the intern is the on-site supervisor.

4. Interns shall mail one page weekly report to the faculty advisor. The
report will consist of the activities performed and problem faced during the
week.

5. The student will be responsible to inform faculty advisor about


completion of his/her internship period.

6. A draft of internship report as per formal format will be submitted


within two weeks to the faculty advisor after the completion of
internship.

7. After satisfactory evaluation of the report by the faculty advisor,


intern must submit three hard bound copies and one soft copy of the
internship report to the faculty advisor.

8. If intern fail to earn passing grade then he has to re-register


himself with the HOD office for “repeating of internship” against
the course fee.
Evaluation:

Three credit hours maximum will be earned by the internship.

Evaluation of the student’s performance during the internships will be


coordinated among the student, faculty advisor of the internship, and
on-site supervisor,

Evaluation should consist of a combination of measures. These


measures include:

a) Weekly report:
5%weight

b) Internship evaluation form

(Duly signed by the on-site supervisor and official stamp):


20%weitht

c) Viva voce/ presentation

(In the presence of At least three faculty members committee):


25%weitht

d) Internship report 50%weight

Other forms of evaluation may be devised if required by the faculty


advisor.
