Lymphatic System
Assists the cardiovascular system by transportingexcess interstitial fluid (lymph) through lymphaticvessels.
Lymph is filtered and checked for foreign or pathologicmaterial, such as cancer cells and bacteria.
Lymphatic structures contain certain cells that initiatean immune response to abnormal materials andperform other functions essential to homeostasis andsurvival.
Without the primary immune response by thelymphatic system, the body would be unable to fightinfection and keep itself healthy.
