The Department o Language andPerorming Arts, ormerly known asDepartment o Humanities has introduceda students’ choir.This initiative will blend in well withstudents’ academic workload, since thestudents’ choir will also double up as
MUS 113
or one credit hour, meaningthat a student could register or the courseand get credit or singing. Rehearsals
School of Communication & Language introduces Daystar University Students Choir 
Over 200 new parents were treated to anamiable welcome on Monday, 9th August 2010at the University’s Athi River campus wherethey were hosted to a tea reception, an eventorganized every semester to allow interactionbetween new parents and the dierent heads odepartments.The event was attended by the Ag. Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Pro. James Kombo, the DVC-Finance Planning & Administration Dr. Philip Kitui,Ag. DVC-Academic Aairs, Dr. Jon Masso, DUPAChairperson Dr. Calisto Onyango, and memberso the University Senate and Management Board.Speaking at the event, Rev. Pro. James Kombothanked the parents or bringing their children toDaystar University, emphasizing that all the threecampuses oered quality education or students inthe dierent programmes. This was echoed by theDirector Admissions & Records, Mrs. Nkita Arao,who went urther in urging parents to encouragetheir children to study at the Athi River campusdespite the perceived distance, since its locationprovides a conducive learning environment.Dr. Calisto Onyango, speaking on behal oDUPA, explained what the parents’ associationwas, how it works with the University and thedevelopments it has contributed to this ar,including the construction o the DUPA ladies’hostels.The successul event ended with a questionand answer session that was acilitated by theAssociate Dean, Student Aairs, Mr. David Thuku.will take place on Thursdays during classsessions, as part o the preparationsor a
concert at the end of thesemester.
