all wanted to grow up in. It’s
a lovely, beautiful and his-
toric place, a true Main Street
America. Our people are
friendly. We’re solid citizens
with real American values.
We value education because
that’s what provides us with
an opportunity to succeed.
We are blessed with an excel-

perience was attending the
Methodist Summer Camp at
Western Maryland College
in the 1950s. We lived in the

Lehigh Cement Company
for over 38 years, ultimately
serving as Plant Manager
at the Union Bridge facility
from 1985 to 2003. There,
Mr. Roush was responsible
for hundreds of employees
and millions of dollars in op-
erating and capital improve-
ment budgets. That’s the kind
of training we wish all our
commissioners could have.
In addition, Mr. Roush
has been an energetic and dy-
namic leader across a broad
range of Carroll County com-
munity activities. He’s served
as President of the Board
of Trustees of Westminster
United Methodist Church,
he’s chaired the Board of
Directors of the Historical
Society of Carroll County,
he was President of the Ro-
tary Club of Westminster,
and Treasurer of the Carroll
Community College Foun-
dation. Mr. Roush has also
served on the Steering Com-
mittee for the Hoff Memorial
Log Barn (see page 4 of this
issue), the Advisory Board
of the YMCA, the Carroll
County Chamber of Com-
merce, the Advisory Com-
mittee for Carroll Lutheran
Village, the Answering the
Call campaign for the New
Windsor Fire Department,
and the Boards of Directors
for the Carroll County Gen-
eral Hospital Foundation and
Carroll County Arts Council.
In sum, Carroll County
and Westminster are much
better places to live, work,
play and worship because of
Dave Roush’s dedicated ser-
vice. These are the reasons
that the Leader strongly sup-
ports Dave Roush for Com-
missioner, District 3.

kinds of people who run for
public office. First, there
are people who want to be
something and then there
are people who want to do
