On August 28, 2010, I was blessed to be able met theRoyal Harmonizers on their 50 Anniversary. The day before I was across the street at Hurricane Jane’ssinging karaoke. My friend , Nat and I went for awalk not knowing that the LORD had a plan for us.Nat turns as we are about to pass the Grand Garden( formally known as Fiddler’s Cove) and withsuspicion was looking through the window and said,“What’s going on in there”. Not knowing what hewas talking about , I moved closer. As I lookedthrough the window at the children of GOD movingto the joyful sound arising out of the speakers, theHoly Spirit within urged me to get closer. Natthought I was crazy as I pulled on the doors hopingto break free the sound. “ Thank you Jesus”, I said asthe door flew open with only one good pull. As Iwalked in , my soul began to rejoice as the songswere being sung. Standing by the stage the enemyspoke saying, “ You don’t need to be in here, theirgoing to think your crazy.” Then I replied, “I amcrazy and crazy enough not to care what peoplethink”. Just then a sweet lady, Clara Shoffner, cameover and greeted my brother and I with open arms.Talking with her, we soon found out that the
Royal  Harmonizer

, the gospel group, have been togetherfor 50 long years. Seeing the family on stage had methinking back on the times when my brothers and I ,had our gospel group called the Hopson Brothers. Ithought back on what I was taught, to do unto othersas you would want them to do unto you. I could notallow twenty five dollars stand in the way of mereceiving a blessing. We left with what I would callthe GOLDEN TICKET.

The RoyalHarmonizers
As Miles mentioned, we both eagerlywanted to put our thoughts intowords. There is so many, I do noteven know where to begin. The night began with family and friendspassing through the doors of buildingthat Saturday night to here laughterand smiles at every turn. The groupwas overwhelmed at the people thatshowed up at the door withouttickets in had to be part of thememorial night. Randy Shoffnercould not turn one away, so the nextthing you know the buffet was takendown so the tables could be used fordining tables. People slide closertogether as to make room for one andall. The thing that jumped out to methrough out the entire night was anaspect I know our Great Lord loved. You see the greatest of allcommandments is to Love. That iswhat the Royal Harmonizers andtheir family did. They loved oneveryone in the room, but it did notstop there. You see this was theirnight to shine, since it was their 50thanniversary, but what did they do?They put on the servant role. Theywere more worried about everyonegetting a place to eat, making surethey had refills, making sure theirtables were cleared and the list goeson. A servants heart... that is whatGod wants from his children andthey set a great example to live by. The night continued with atrue man of God lifting HIM onhigh. That would be master of ceremony, Rev. Michael K Storm. He helped create an environmentfor the Holy Spirit to move thatnight. The Price Family of Asheboro opened up the singingwith great singing. Followed TheSons Of Soul from Burlington. The night also was highlighted by recognizing several specialguest. A tribute to A J Shoffner, the father that started the wholeRoyal Harmonizers. The mosttouching night for me was when thechildren called their mom, ClaraShoffner on stage to present her withflowers and a thank you for always being at all their events, always beingtruthful with them and mostly being a woman of God. TheLiberty Mayor, Jim Parker, presented the group with a letterfrom NC Governor Perduethanking them for all the years of service. The Liberty TownManager, Roger Davis, presentedthe group a proclamation fromthe Town, stating that October10th would be the official RoyalHarmonizers Day in Libertyfrom this year on. Randy askeddid that get him out of speedingtickets with a chuckle. Thisgroup did deserve this greathonor. I am so thankful that Godhas allowed me to get to knowthe family for they are a true blessing to me and several othersin our great community. So whatis the history behind this group? The quartet was organized in1960 under the leadership andvision of late A J Shoffner. Thequartet was originally named theSpiritual Jubilees and later changedtheir names to the RoyalHarmonizers on their firstanniversary. Their ministry is stillvery much alive, honoring thewishes of their father, brother, husband and friend, Brother A J tokeep the quartet together. They singin and around the state of NCsharing the good news of Jesusthrough song. Today they give Godall the honor and glory for allowingthem the opportunity to be used byHim. It is their prayer that Godwould glorify and that through theirministry, men and women wouldaccept God as their Lord and Savior.

The goal of the Freedom Student ministry:
Although it’s hard to sum up everything into one short statement; the basic goal ofour group is to develop relationships with God and each other. By learning about theBible and choosing to live our lives like Jesus Christ, we can make a difference in thelives of people around us. We do that through many different types of events. Week inand week out we dive into God’s word and figure out how it applies to our lives andhow we can use it to become closer to Jesus. We take trips and experience thingstogether so that we can build healthy and happy friendships and enjoy life as followersof Jesus. We also go out into the world and show the love of Christ by serving those inneed. All of these things are important if we are to live our lives as God has intended.
