An Angel’s Gift
One Kind-Hearted Lonely Beam

Through the clouds it wills a stream,

one kind-hearted lonely beam,
like her touch against my arm,
its warmth restores my sleep to calm.

Drifting by my ear she breathes,

soft promises to never leave,
whilst she dreams of built up skies,
the angel who here by me lies.

The morning’s peaceful, far away,

gentle start to a quiet day,
yet, my fearful chest beats loud,
my eyes lost in a grey-sky cloud.

Her home floats by my window so,

where other angels seem to know,
all for my sake, just as I’ve feared,
the countless things she has endured.

But her love is not her wings,

‘Lonely freedoms’, ‘useless things’,
Still, my fear’s our love won’t be,
Enough compared with being free.

So, when I see that cloudy sky,

My soul prays desperate where I lie,
For one kind-hearted lonely ray,
To keep those darkening clouds at bay.

But when the clouds refuse to go,

And I can see no holy glow,
She strokes my face, my fears away,
‘Love, in my heart‘s a cloudless day.’
