None need fail of attaining, in his sphere, toperfection of Christian character.By the sacrifice of Christ provision has been made for the believer toreceive all things that pertain to life and godliness.God calls upon us to reach the standard of perfection, and places before us the example of Christs character. In His humanity, perfected by a lifeof constant resistance of evil, the Savior showed thatthrough cooperation with divinity, human beingsmay in this life attain to perfection of character. Thisis God's assurance to us that we too may obtaincomplete victory.
Acts of the Apostles, p. 531.
He saves His people from their sins. This must be more than pardon orforgiveness, or we would never stop sinning.Matthew 1:21.Man sinsbecause his moral nature is fallen, and corrupt and cannot cease fromsin.Man was created in God's image, but sin marred and defiled thatimage.Salvation is the restoration of the divine image.Psalm 51:5
Christ came that He might recreate the image of God in man.
Desireof Ages p. 478.By living union with Him we are changed into Hisimage.2 Corinthians 3:18.
Jesus said, Be perfect, even as your Fatheris perfect. If you are the children of God, you are partakers of Hisnature and you cannot but be like Him. Every child lives by the life orhis father. If you are God's children, begotten by His Spirit, you live bythe life of God.In Christ 'dwells all the fulnessof the Godhead bodily',and the life of Jesus is made manifest 'in our mortal flesh'.That life inyou, will produce the same character, and manifest the same works asit did in Him. Thus you will be in harmony with every precept of Hislaw; for 'the law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul'. Throughlove the righteousness of the law will be fulfilled in us who walk notafter the flesh but after the Spirit.
