A season of change
Change is in the air; and also in the news. Oris there a better word to describe this air of expectancy, this atmosphere of it-will-soon-happen. This air has gingered excitement allover the globe, and Nigerians are not left out.The race for the presidency of the UnitedStates of America has moved from theclimatic ending of the primaries of theDemocratic Party to the kick-off of thepresidential elections proper. How does this affect non-Americans? Well, one word Obamania! The possibility of ablack man emerging as the president of the United States of America, or as somewill put it, the most powerful person in theworld, has made us all realise that with someaudacity and hope, “We Can”. Nigeriansat home have followed this drama with apassion that can only be equalled by theemotions with which we follow the EnglishPremiership league. This hopefully wouldmake us more interested, and participatoryin the way we are governed. In this edition we interview a rising starAdama, whom some have called the nextSade. We review what is likely to be thesmash hit album of the summer, 9ice GongoAso. We also have a story on Jim Ovia, theastute banker who founded and grew Zenithinto one of Africa’s biggest banks, and whoselatest foray into the telecommunicationindustry has sent tongues wagging.Let’s get inside this edition of change, beforeI disclose all. My hope as I sign off is that thisedition will make you audacious enough tohope.Enjoy!
