redcrossblood.org and enter the Sponsor code: Cox Elementary or contact Whitney Cromwell (702) 354-9959.
We’re asking that students wear red that day as a spirit dress day!

Transitional Academic Night Date Changed: On May 3rd, we will be having a “Moving Up Academic Night.” This is an
evening in which you attend the next grade’s presentation to hear about curriculum, supplies, and expectations. We will be
distributing curriculum guides some textbooks (which are no longer adopted by CCSD), and providing a question/answer time
for parents. So…your kindergarten student would attend the first grade presentation, first graders attend the second grade
presentation…and so on. *Greenspun will NOT be presenting this evening, it’s tailored for K-4th graders only.
Teacher Request for 2018-2019 (second posting): Since I have been the Principal at DMC, I have always given parents the
opportunity to request a teacher for their child. This practice will continue for the next school year. Balancing classes and
accommodating students with different needs is our top priority and often requests cannot be granted for that reason. A teacher
request DOES NOT GUARANTEE PLACEMENT. Welcome back letters with class placement will be mailed the end of
June and administration DOES NOT meet with parents who were not granted their request.

Mothers and Muffins Date Change: Mothers, we were originally going to have “Mothers and Muffins” on Friday, April 27th
but were able to move it closer to Mother’s Day. The new date will be Friday, May 11th from 8:30-9:00 am in the MP Room.
Mother and students are invited to attend, have some pastries, juice, and coffee to celebrate our Moms!

If you would like to request a teacher for your child(ren) next year please send in a written request to front office or email me
(Mrs. Imboden – my email is at the top of this newsletter and on the website) with at least 2 choices (with priority numbered).
All letters of request will be accepted until April 27th. No letters will be accepted after April 27th. We are not responsible
for students not turning in request letters.

SBAC Parent Participation: We are asking that you write positive notes to your child each day they are testing. We have
paired each intermediate class up with a primary class to be their “cheerleaders” and give the class positive praise notes as
well. We are implementing several attendance incentives to minimize make-ups and raffling off bikes for attendance.

We also have school-wide quiet hours from 9:30-11:30 and adjust lunches and specialists schedules to
give our students the optimal testing environment. Once a student has begun a test, they cannot leave
school and come back into the building to pick up where they left off (all sections once started must be
finished).
*These tests do not affect your child’s reportcard grades or next year’s class placement and scores do not come out until July or August.

Did you know…Congratulations to Finley Troxclair and Isabella

Hernandez for designing our front and back yearbook covers! Way to Go
Girls!

Did you know…For each day of SBAC testing, students put their names
in a drawing for a chance at a free bike! We gave away 6 bikes last week
to our 3 testing classes! Bike drawings will continue throughout testing.
