Filmmaker unleashes creativity to make open-source healthcare a reality  
The second conference on Collaborative Innovation Networks (COINs) bringstogether a multidisciplinary international group of practitioners, researchers andstudents to study the emerging science of collaboration Oct. 7-9, Arnold Hall,1810 Bull St., Savannah, Ga.
This event is sponsored by Savannah College of Art and Design(also serving as host), MIT Center for Collective Intelligence andWayne State University College of Engineering-Department of Industrial andManufacturing Engineering.Keynote speakers include filmmaker, CEO and creative director of FreeFormand open-forum medical information website Lybba.org founder JesseDylan; Massachusetts Institute of Technology Professor Alex “Sandy” Pentland;and Richard Buchanan, professor of information systems at the WeatherheadSchool of Management at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Dylan is a filmmaker and CEO and creative director of FreeForm, a full-serviceproduction company with a focus on corporate social responsibility and socialmedia. In addition, he is a prolific director behind some of the most successfulcampaigns in commercial television, print and interactive advertising. Dylan hascreated award-winning commercials for clients, including the Barack Obamaadministration, Nike, Nintendo, Motorola, American Express, the NationalFootball League and MTV. Recently, Dylan’s work has focused on telling the stories of the world's mostinnovative projects, people and organizations. He was a creative director for the iParticipate campaign for the Entertainment Industry Foundation(iParticipate.org), tying together film, print and social media in the service of inspiring volunteerism across the United States. He directed the public service
announcements, including a print campaign for Stand up to Cancer (SU2C.org),an organization committed to fostering collaboration in cancer research. He alsodirected a film for The European Organization for Nuclear Research about thenewly completed Large Hadron Collider. Dylan will participate in a question and answer open forum with MIT Center for Collaborative Intelligence research scientist and Coolhunting theorist Peter Gloor and moderator Ken Riopelle, and screen his short films on Thursday, Oct. 7, 5p.m., Trustees Theater, 216 E. Broughton St. Friday night speaker Pentland directs the MIT Human Dynamics Laboratory,helping companies to become more productive and creative throughorganizational engineering, and the Media Lab Entrepreneurship Program, whichhelps translate cutting-edge technology into global real-world impact. He isamong the most-cited computer scientists in the world, and in 1997, Newsweekmagazine named him one of the 100 Americans likely to shape this century. Closing keynote Buchanan has focused on the rhetorical dimensions of design.He is an editor of Design Issues, an international journal of design history, theoryand criticism published by the MIT Press. From 2000 to 2006, he was presidentof the Design Research Society, a multidisciplinary design research societybased in the United Kingdom.
