LESSON 1 In the beginning God created
the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1
Genesis 1:1

God created the heaven and the earth. And

DAY the earth was without form… and darkness
was upon the face of the deep. And the
Spirit of God moved upon the… waters.
And God said, “Let there be light; and there
was light… and God divided the light from
the darkness. And God called the light Day,
and the darkness He called Night.
On the first day
God made light and Genesis 1:1-5 NIV
called it Day and the
darkness Night.

Then God said, “Let there be something

to divide the water in two!” So God made
DAY the air to divide the water in two. Some of
the water was above the air, and some of
the water was below it. God named the air
On the second day “sky”.
God created the sky Genesis 1:6-7
and the water below.

And God saw that it was good.

On the third day, God
separated the land from
the water and created
every plant and tree.

On the fourth day God
created the lights in the
heavens.
And God saw that it was good.

And God said, Let the water… be
gathered together unto one place, and
let the dry land appear: and it was so,
And God called the dry land Earth; and
the … water called the Seas… And God
said, Let the earth bring forth grass…
and the fruit tree… and it was so.

And God made two great lights; the
greater light to rule the day, and the
lesser light to rule the night: He made
the stars also. And God set them in the
firmament of the heaven to give light
upon the earth…

And God said, “Let the water teem with
living creatures, and let birds fly above

created the great creatures of the sea
and every living and moving thing with

DAY On the sixth day God

also created man and
woman.

The Lord took the dust from the ground

and formed man from it. The Lord
breathed life into the man’s nose. And
the man became a living person.

God brought all of the animals to

Adam so he could name them.

one of the ribs from the man’s body… The
Lord used the rib from the man to make a
woman. Then the Lord brought the woman
to the man.
Gen 2:21-22

And God saw that it was very good.

So the sky, the earth and all that filled them
were finished. By the seventh day God finished
the work He had been doing. So on the seventh
day He rested from all His work. God blessed
the seventh day and made it a holy day. He
made it holy because on that day He rested.
He rested from all the work He had done in
creating the world.
