Winner ofthe PEN/Malarnud Award for The Toughest Indian sn the World (2001), he also wrote and produced the feature film Smole Signals, based on his book, The Lone ‘Ranger and Tonto Fistght in Heaven. The lm premiered atthe 1998 Sundance Film Festival, winning both the Audience Award and the Filmmakers Trophy. The Busines of Fancydancing, which he directed from his “own script, won the Outstanding Screenveriting Award at Outfest. He also won the World Heavyweight ‘Championship Poetry Bout four years in row. The New Yorker has named him one ofthe top 20 writes for the 21st Centiry. Ekstrom Library, Chao Auditor Perla Suez isthe author of Trilogia de Entre Ris (Editorial Norma, 006), three novels that take place in Entre Ros, the Argentine province where thousands of Jewish immigrants settled atthe end of the nineteenth ‘century, including the author's own great-grandparents. Suez i also the author of award-winning children's fiction and was the founding director of CEDILI, a research center for children’s literature. Ms. Haskins’ poetry collections include Desite Lines, New and Selected Poems (BOA Eulitons, 2004), Extranjra (Story Line, ‘Jove), The Rizn Benders (Anhinga, 2001) and Hunger (University of Iowa Press, 1953 winner ofthe Lowa, Poetry Prize).
