Foreword & Acknowledgements
The WANA-Led Reconstruction and Recovery Expert Consultation broughttogether an impressive group of leaders and thinkers from across West Asia andNorth Africa under the auspices of His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan bin Talal,a visionary and the Chairman of the WANA Forum. I, like all participants, amgrateful for each speaker’s insightful presentation and for the thought-provokingdiscussions they inspired. This report attempts to capture their wisdom and theircalls for concerted action.I would also like to acknowledge the tireless efforts of the WANA ForumSecretariat in organising the event and in contributing to this report. Their workwas complemented by that of the co-organisers from the Regional HumanSecurity Centre (RHSC) in Amman and the Post-war Reconstruction andDevelopment Unit (PRDU) at the University of York, UK. I look forward tobuilding upon the ideas included in this report with the assistance of theseindividuals and with the support of the participants.
