Deportes Tradicionales de Cantabria Traditional Sports of Cantabria Arrastre de Ganado Cattle Plowing • El origen de este deporte fue hace muchos años cuando la gente decía “mi buey es el mejor” (buey, un toro capado) y la gente competía entre ellos. Al final empezaron las competiciones grandes.
• The origen of this sport is that
a long time ago, when people said “my ox is the best” (ox, a castrated bull) they started competing against each other. Finally the big competitions started. • Hay diferentes categorías desde vacas jóvenes hasta bueyes. El arrastre consiste en que cada pareja tiene que llevar una narria que es la pieza de madera sobre la que llevan bloques de cemento. La categoría de bueyes lleva 1800Kg en la narria.

Regatas de Traineras Sardine Fishing Boat Races • Tiempo atrás, mucha gente que vivía en la costa trabajaba en la pesca (sardinas). La gente quería llegar siempre los primeros a la lonja porque vendían al mejor precio y así comenzaron las regatas.
