Overall Update
This month I got to introduce new people toCosta Rica. Can you believe I
m the experiencedstudent now? I have now been in Costa Rica foralmost four months and I was excited last week tofeel like I really was coming home after a trip. This month I have really been praying for myupcoming move to Honduras. There is so much goingon there and I have no idea specifically what theLord wants me to do. I probably won
t know exactlyuntil I get there, but I have begun praying that Hewould be preparing my heart now for the people Iwill meet and work with in La Ceiba. I
m alsogetting really excited about being there and gettingto settle in and make that my new home.At the same time, I don
t want to wish away mytime here. I am enjoying Costa Rica so much. It is abeautiful country and I have met so many wonderfulpeople. I
m getting to know my host family so muchmore now that I can speak more Spanish. And I
mcontinuing to make new Tico friends. I even got togo to a student-led Bible study with some universitystudents! It was a great experience and they wereso patient with us.
This month I led my first Bible study in Spanish!Just give yourself a second to think through conceptsabout the Lord
’s glory and goodness, the idea of
being motivated out of love for His name, how weshould live to glorify Him, and what glory reallymeans. Now turn to someone in your house and tryto describe your thoughts using a four year oldsvocabulary. Welcome to my life! But I did it! And I have to admit I think it wentpretty well. My friend Joe helped me while I was inPanama to renew my visa. There are just wholeconcepts that I don
t know how to translate yet
like the idea of being shortchanged. I don
t thinkthere is a verb
to shortchange
in Spanish. So weimprovise. All that to say I was excited to get to put some of my Spanish to use to talk about the Gospel!
 Prayer for YOU
This month I am trying to pray for all of mysupporters, that means you! I stole an idea from afriend to put all your names in a container and thenpray for a couple every day and move them to theother container until I
ve prayed for everyone. SoI
m doing it! If you and your family have any prayerneeds, please let me know!
 Current Prayer Needs
Continued Spanish learning. I am currently a littlefrustrated with the slow pace of my class. Soplease pay for patience and diligence to study hardon my own.
Please join me in praying that the Lord will bepreparing my heart for whatever He hasspecifically prepared for me to do in Honduras.Pray for peace for me in the waiting and that theLord will be making my heart ready.
Pray for continual good time in the Word as I startthe Tim Keller
Bible study with somefriends here.
Keep praying for opportunities for me to talk aboutthe Lord and His great love for us with those whodon
’t know Him.

Desiring to be dangerous
"We are so utterly ordinary, so commonplace, while we profess to know a Powerthe Twentieth Century does not reckon with. But we are "harmless," andtherefore unharmed. We are spiritual pacifists, non-militants, conscientiousobjectors in this battle-to-the-death with principalities and powers in highplaces. Meekness must be had for contact with men, but brass, outspokenboldness is required to take part in the comradeship of the Cross. We are"sideliners" -- coaching and criticizing the real wrestlers while content to sit byand leave the enemies of God unchallenged. The world cannot hate us; we aretoo much like its own. Oh that God would make us dangerous!"-Jim Elliot (1948)
