creativity and the built environment to extend their collaborative practice in public art. Further
to the ones recently appointed for Pleckgate and Darwen Vale High Schools, two further Lead
Artist residencies are now also to be created at both Witton Park High School and New East
Blackburn Community College in Blackburn with Darwen. As before, these residencies will
involve liaison with a range of agencies working in partnership to deliver Building Schools for
the Future investment (BSF).
Shine are seeking to appoint two lead artists to work on developing both their and other artist
commissions within the two new schools. These separate residencies will include working
with the local community, and must be able to meet the aims of the BSF programme for the
arts in Blackburn with Darwen, whilst enhancing the visual or other sensory environment
within each school, complement curriculum learning and deliver wider community benefits.
Fees: Up to £15,000 + VAT per school residency from project inception to completion. It is
intended that all developing public art project and related project artist fees will be negotiated
and agreed separately as part of Shine's constructional budgets
