THE DEMANIO AGENCY'TAGS' ITS STATE ASSETS
The historic Apostolic Palace inRavenna, the Duke’s residencein Pesara, the former Littoriobuildings in Salerno and thenearly contemporary headquar-ters of the Governmental Com-mission in Trento are just a fewof the 18 state owned proper-ties all over Italy (only prefec-tures were included in this firstphase of the project) that havebeen ‘tagged’ by the DemanioAgency. The unveiling of theplaques, with the collaborationof the Ministry for the Interior,was planned to coincide withthe national holiday that cele-brates the Republic of Italy.The initiative, part of the ‘Knowto recognize’ project, was cre-ated in order to able to easilyidentify state heritage proper-ties and to encourage a closerand more tangible relationshipbetween the country’s citizensand the state’s cultural heritageassets, part and parcel of Italy’shistory and identity.The main event took place inBari where Elisabetta Spitz, di-rector of the Demanio Agency,and Prefect Carlo Schilardi un-veiled the plaque on the Gover-nor’s Palace, the headquartersof the Prefecture of Bari. Othercities involved were ReggioCalabria, Salerno, Bologna,Parma, Forli', Ravenna, Trieste,Gorizia, Frosinone, Savona,Pesaro, Verbania, Nuoro,Messina, Livorno, Trento, andBolzano.
