Description

An archaeological watching brief was undertaken by Wessex Archaeology at the offices of Chemring Countermeasures, High Post, Salisbury, Wiltshire during ground works comprising excavation of thirty-six foundation pits for a temporary structure to supplement existing office buildings, centred on NGR 413977, 137050.
The site lay in an area of high archaeological potential, on a plateau above the River Avon as it passes through the Woodford Valley.
The Watching Brief was required as part of the planning permission granted to the Client by Wiltshire District Council (Planning Reference: S/2007/1391), the local planning authority, for the proposed development.
