is the capital and principalcityof theAlsace 
in northeasternFrance, withapproximately 650,000 inhabitants in themetropolitan areain1999. Located close to the border withGermany, it is the
(capital) of theBas-Rhin Strasbourg is the seat of, among otherthings, theCouncil of Europe, theEuropean Court of Human Rights, theEuropean Ombudsman, theEurocorps, the European Audiovisual Observatory, and,most famously, theEuropean Parliament,although sessions are also held inBrussels.Strasbourg is an important center of manufacturing and engineering, as well as of road, rail, and rivercommunications. The port of Strasbourg is the second largest on theRhine afterDuisburg,Germany. The city is the seat of theCentral Commission for  Navigation on the Rhine.Strasbourg's historic center, the
("Grand Island"), was classified aWorld Heritage sitebyUNESCOin 1988, the first time such an honor was placed on an entire city center.
At the site of Strasbourg, theRomans established a military outpost and namedit

 Roman province. Thename was first mentioned in the year12 BC; the city celebrated its 2,000thbirthday in1988. From the4th century, Strasbourg was the seat of theArchbishopric of Strasbourg.
TheStrasbourg Cathedral,begun in the 12th century, was completed in1439(though the south tower remainsunfinished) and became theWorld's Tallest Building,surpassing theGreat Pyramid of Giza.

Welcome to Strasbourg, however since I recommend you to take the Baden-WürttembergWeekend ticket (Cost EU 18). We will meet up at a German City called Kehl. Kehl is atown in southwesternGermanyinBaden-Württemberg. It is located at the river Rhine, directly opposite toStrasbourg. Upon meeting in the train station in Kehl , we will then take a bus to Strasbourg and upon reaching Strasbourg , we will go to thehostel or my house where a nice room will be prepared.Once we put our luggage, we willtour around the beautiful city of StrasbourgFirst stop, Strasbourg Cathedralwhere we will visit view and see theStrasbourg downtown, and then wewill take a boat tour along the riverto see the Strasbourg as a wholealong the canal. Upon completingour boat cruise, we will take a walkalong the French area of StrasbourgPlace Broglie and Place Kleber andwe might visit a home of my friendsto see what is inside the house of atypical Alsatian home. Then, we willstroll to a Museum Musee DeStrasbourg to see the Alsatian Life. Then we will have a weekend make our walk towards place Broglie, Place Kleber andwe will end our tour in Petit France , where will have a wonderful dinner overlookingthe river and after dinner we will walk along the canal to enjoy the marvelous nightview of Strasbourg to the Local Observatories to see the Planets Venus, Saturn andetc. After seeing the stars and Planet we will make our way back home to rest for abig day the next day.
