A
friend visiting Sabahfor the first time asked me once, “So besides the islands, mountain and seeing the Orang Utan, is there anything else much to do around here?” What amillion-dollar question! It inspired this month’s feature, ‘Sabah - Everything for Everyone!’ (p.10) and hopefully answers the question of my less-informed friend. If you look beyond the beaches and green canopies, you’ll find that Sabah is a treasure cove of experiences wait-ing to be discovered. Be it a great night out in KK City or a satisfying shopping spree, it’s all right here in Sabah.July is also a month jam-packed with events. Worthcatching is the Pesta Gambus or Lute Festival which takes place in the district of Papar (p.4), whichcelebrates the stringed instrument of the Brunei-Malay community. InKuala Penyu, the annual Sago Fest or Pesta Rumbia will be taking place fomr the 6th to the 8th of July (p.3).Plenty of hands on activities for visitors to enjoy, including traditional roof-making and for the more adventurous, a taste of a live sago worm! On a more cultural note, learnmore about the origin of the Kadazandusun people during the Nunuk Ragang ceremony in Kg.Tompios, Ranau. There’s also a new spa in town! Cres Moment is located at Warisan Square and is featured inthis month’s Spa Essentials (p.7).So are you ready to have anunforgettable holiday in Sabah? We hope this magazine will give you more ideas on what to do and where to go during your time here. Jumpalagi!
