INTRODUCTION
Indonesian Acquisitions List

The
 Indonesian Acquisitions List (IAL)
details new books and serials published inIndonesia which have been recently acquired by the National Library of Australiathrough its Regional Office in Jakarta, Indonesia. The
 IAL
was produced quarterly in hard copy until September 2001. It has also beenaccessible on the Web since 1996. There was a break in production from September 2001 to December 2002. The quarterly
 IAL
resumed on the Web only in March 2003.
Indonesian Acquisitions Program
The Indonesian Acquisitions Program was established by the National Library of Australia in 1971 with the aim of acquiring a broad range of government and non-government publications for the National Library and a number of participatinguniversity libraries. The export book trade in Indonesia has not yet developedsufficiently to support extensive dealings with overseas customers, and an in-country presence is necessary to obtain the full range of titles currently sought by Australianusers. Research level materials are sought in most subject areas and from all regionsof Indonesia. This includes monographs, serials newspapers and maps, all of whichare regularly air freighted to Australia. The libraries currently participating in theIndonesian Acquisitions Program are:

Australian Defence Force Academy, A.C.T.

Australian National University, A.C.T.

The British Library

Flinders University of South Australia

Monash University, Victoria

Murdoch University, Western Australia

 National Library of Australia

 National Library Board, Singapore

School of Oriental and African Studies Library, University of London
Arrangement and content of entries
Each issue of the
 IAL
details all items included in the most recent consignmentsdespatched from the Regional Office. New serial titles acquired for the National Library’s collections during the period arelisted alphabetically in the first section. Monographs acquired for both the NationalLibrary and participants form the second section, with entries arranged within broadsubject classes. The appendix lists the serial and newspaper titles which aredespatched to the National Library in Canberra twice weekly, so that the most recentissues are available for use in the Library’s reading rooms promptly. There is no indexto the
 Indonesian Acquisitions List.
