Five ji_nas are carved seated onthe upper part of the black slab; an apparentindication that the image depicts the Jaina goddessof learning. On the base are two female attendantsand a squatting worshipper on either side; to theright, a male and to the left, a female, perhapsrepresenting the donors. The base of the image hasan inscription in na_gari mentioning that it wasmade by the sculptor Manthala in 1034 A.D. She isstated to be the protectress of the sixthTi_rtha_nkara Padmaprabha.
