Forthesakeofintroducingthereadertodomainnames,Iwilldefinewhataredomainnamesandthedomainnamesystem(DNS).Iwillalsomentiontypesofdomainnames.Finally,IwillconsidertheInternetCorporationforAssignedNamesandNumbers(ICANN).

Basicallytherearetwotypesofdomainnamesandtheyare:genericTopLevelDomains(gTLDs)andCountryCodeTopLevelDomains
(ccTLDs)
