General comments: A general overview of the Energy Storage Systems in context to development of Distributed Generation, improving of Power Quality and stability of power system operation is given in the paper. The article is addressed mainly to people who manage and make decisions in energy sector. A very general technological information. Detailed comments: In teh introduction Authors cited reference [2] (2001) as forecasting for the year 2010. Now we have the year 2008 and it would be adequate to cite the more up-to-date references, for example "The White Book" about the EU strategy in energy market. In the part 5 Authors devide the storage systems on three groups: short, medium and long. It is suggested, to describe more clierly, which of EST are grouping by Authors to each of these group. What is realy the difference between medium- and long-term storage systems? If we can sterage energy up to few hours, is no problem to storage it up to few days - its only question, how big is the equipment. It seems, that the main difference is between systems which are capable to storage in the time-scala up to few seconds (FW, SMES, SC), which are used as a kind of UPS in very short voltage dips and are oriented on PQ improving, and long-time systems, which are generally used to stabilisation of power demand. In this context it is suggested an additional comment in the part 5 and Table 5.1. The main, good comaprison of EST is given in the Table 4.1, and it has a wide informative value. The feets, F and some other units are not in international SI system. It is suggested, to chage it to SI system. Conclusion: The article has a high informative value. It contains a good fundamental information about EST.
