SUB-TOPIC : Bar Chart


YEAR : 2

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE:

1) To identify the columns and rows of the bar chart.


2) To name each of the column.
3) To identify the student’s favourite fruits.
4) To identify the total number of each fruit.
5) To calculate the percentage of each fruit.
6) To compare the calculated values with the display values that given by the software.
7) To name the title of the bar chart.

LEARNING OUTCOME:

1. Able to create a bar chart by name each of the columns and identify the student’s
favourite fruits.
2. Able to calculate the total number and the percentage of each fruit.
3. Able to name the title of the bar chart.

FORMULA:

Percentage of each fruit (%) = Total number of each fruit × 100%


Total number of all fruits

STEPS: Create a Bar Chart

1) Name each of the column examples: Apple, Durian, Banana, Grape, Orange and
Mango. Then, identify the student’s favourite fruits.

2) Count the Total Number of each fruit.

3) Calculate the Percentage of each fruit. Then, compare your values (calculated
values) with the display values that given by the software.

4) Name the Title of the Bar Chart such as Percentage of Favourite Fruits.

ACTIVITIES SUGGESTION:

Base on the student ability.

1) Lower ability - Can calculate from 5 to 10 rows with 6 columns.


2) Medium ability - Can calculate from 10 to 15 rows with below 10 columns.
3) Higher ability - Can calculate from 15 to 20 rows with above 10 columns.

PLAN B:

Plan B should be prepared in case of computer faulty or cannot access to the internet or no
current at all (current trip) or any reasons that we cannot use the software.

In Plan B, we should bring the materials for teaching, so that students can understand
smoothly.

The specific objective and learning outcome are still the same as above. The difference is
the way we teaching.

STEPS: Create a Bar Chart – Manually using manila card

1) Draw a line on the manila card to indicate row and column, label the rows with
number, and stick the printed fruits on each column and name according to the
picture examples: Apple, Durian, Banana, Grape, Orange and Mango.

2) Next, identify the student’s favourite fruits and colour each column according to the
student’s favourite fruits. Then, count the Total Number of each fruit.

3) Calculate the Percentage of each fruit by using the formula given. Then, compare
your values (calculated values) with the correct values that given by the teacher.
