China's Haier, the fourth-largest white-goods manufacturer in the world, was one of the greatest supporters for the "green concept" in Beijing and other big cities that were co-hosts of the Games. The company provided its energy-saving and eco-friendly appliances for broadcasting the matches throughout this China's Olympic Games. Moreover, 60,000 units of Haier's green products were offered for use in the Games, especially air-conditioners and solar-cell hot water systems, which obviously made the air quality in China better. Beyond expectation, its energy- and water-saving washing machines helped reduce a large amount of polluted water. With Haier's determination, the China succeeded not only in winning the most golden medals but also in being the host of the "Green Olympic."

Dubai is going to own the tops construction of the modem engineering and architectural era. After crude oil fields are found here, this 2000-year-old ancient city transforms itself into a modern one in a blink.
The country is pursuing various megaprojects, such as palm-tree islands.
Under the project, 3 islands are to be constructed: Jumeirah-palm Island, Oeirapalm Island, and Jebel-Ali-palm Island. These islands are the largest man-made islands in the world, and most importantly, they are visible from outer space.
The Burj at-Arab Hotel
Here is the highest and most luxurious holelin the world. Being located on an arlificial island, il is regarded as the only 7- star hotel on earth. The building is designed in the shape of a dhow sailboat, an Arabian marine vehicle.
The Burj Dubai Building
Will be built to stand 818 meters tall. Upon completion, it will be the highest building in the world. Oubailand is to be constructed on a 3-million-square-feet space. The Land encompasses 45 mega-projects and other 200 projects of a lesser scale, together with superb facilities.
Ski Dome
The world's biggest indoor ski dome. What makes it amazing is that the dome is situated amid a vast desert.
The Dynamic Tower
is another awe-inspiring construction project of an 80-storey skyscraper being 420 meters in height. It is the first skyscraper in the world that can move - each floor revolves and moves on ils own by power-generating wind turbines installed between each floor. Thus, the building's shape can be changed as desired.
Today. it seems that nothing Dubai dreams of is impossible.

China invested $6.5 billion for security measures in the Olympic 2008, more than $1.5 billion of the Athens Olympics in Greece.
• All the tickets to the opening and closing ceremonies are microchip-embedded, not only to prevent forgery but also to record the buyers' personal data that could be counterchecked in case of bomb explosion.
I Some fireworks shown in the Olympics' opening ceremony on August 8th, 2008 were virtual images created by using 3D computer graphics. It took almost 1 year to prepare over 2 dozens of graphics shown for 55 seconds .
• The larch used in the ceremony was named "Cloud of Promise" and designed by Lenovo, a giant Chinese computer manufacturer.
• The Olympic medals were made of jade stone. One side of a medal was a picture of Nike - the goddess of victory and Panathinaikos Arena. The other side was decorated with jade rings with Beijing Olympic symbol in the middle, and was also decorated with delicately carved dragon. The gold and silver medals were made of pure silver, and the Olympics Champion medals were printed in gold that weighted 6 grams each .
• During the Olympics 2008, Google changed its logo every day at midnight of Thailand. The logos were of the 12 zodiac signs playing sports. At the end, Google selected the dragon as the logo in honor of China for being the winner nation.

1. Forever Engraved on Our Memories (Jan. 2, 2008) The death of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Wadhana had brought grief and endless tears to Thai people allover the country. On November 15, all mourning Thais gathered to bid farewell to her retuming to heaven . She would be engraved on our memory forever. Although some people had no opportunity to see or appear before her, they could sense her great contributions to all. Oespite of her ascendance to heaven, her concerns for Thai people still proceed to the next generation.
"Although Princess Galyani Wadhana has passed away, her virtuous mind is still engraved on every Thai people's heart".
