PURSUIT DRILL

Coach #1 will signal desired play to QB, H, F & Rabbit.

Upon the snap of the ball the H or F will take the ball
and run to the designated cone on the play-side hash
mark.

As the ball carrier passes the cone on the hash mark

Coach #2 or #3 will set the rabbit to the play-side
running the length of the cones.

At the snap of the ball the defense will attack their

gap/responsibility, find the ball and by taking a proper
pursuit angle run to their designated cone trying to
touch the rabbit as he passes.

(NOTE: Defensive positions must complete their

responsibilities before running to their cone. It does not
help the player if he just runs to the cone without going
through his reads/responsibilities.)

ATTACK - REACT - PURSUE - TACKLE

 PURSUIT DRILL
Razor = Read play to, attacks gap responsibility, and
attack cone #1 (Primary Force).
Tackle = Read play to, attack gap responsibility, and
attack cone #2.
Nose = Read play to, attack gap responsibility, shuffle
one gap for cutback, and attack cone #3.
End = Read play away, attack gap responsibility, shuffle
two gaps for cutback toward center, and attack cone #4.
Lazor = Read play away, attack gap responsibility, check
CBR (counter-boot-reverse) gain depth to deepest
back, and attack cone #5.
Sam = Read play to, attack gap responsibility, and attack
cone #1½ with inside out angle. (Secondary Force).
Mike = Read play to, attack gap responsibility, and attack
cone #3.
Will = Read play away, attack backside gap responsibility
for possible cutback, and attack cone #3½.
Free Safety = Take drop, read play, attack alley
responsibility through cone #2.
Play-side Corner = Take drop for responsibility, read
play to, and attack cone #4.
Back-side Corner = Take drop cover responsibility, read
play away, and attack cone #6.
