The titles are all bright colours, such as red which immediately conveys

drama as it is a colour directly related with love and also blood. The
colour pink is also similarly used a lot, this gives the cover a more
feminine affect which maybe to appeal more to the female audience.
This would be affective as it is largely females that buy the sort of
magazine about soaps. The bright pinks and red also contrast greatly
with the white and yellow background. With white and yellow both
being slightly softer colours it makes the title stand out in order to grab
the attention of potential buyers of the magazine and soap opera
watchers. All of the text sticks with the yellow white and yellow theme,
excluding the title which interlinks all of the soaps portrayed and also
makes sure the cover doesn’t look to much and won’t be likely to be
avoided by customers.

The photographs all portray a different storyline in order to captivate the reader. Each
are also labelled with the soap opera they are advertising which is essential as without
this information and reader may be very intrigued by the storylines however not be
aware of the soap it is from. The arrows and the bold lettering are simple yet affective in
making the sure the reader knows exactly what is being hinted and why they should
watch that particular soap. In some cases the words in the subtitles are a different colour
which creates the dramatic feel of the sub-heading. For example in the title of ‘steve
dumps bride becky’ the word ‘dumps’ is coloured yellow in contrast to the rest of the
white lettering. This displays the importance of this particular information in the story
line.

Realism is created as the pictures overlap the text and don’t just stay in their circles
or boxes. There for they have a more ‘jump off the page’ affect and become
altogether more lifelike. 4 of the 7 photos are natural shots where the characters
aren’t posing, for example becky curled up in the top right corner and Maria and
Tony kissing in the bottom centre photograph. This Is carefully balanced out with 3 of
the pictures being posed by the actors and actresses. There for the magazine cover The use of alliteration is affective with the title of ‘summer shocks’. This
conveys the drama and produces a sneak preview of storylines ahead and the action relates to all the soap operas being advertised and the‘s’ creates a harsh
at the same time as directly addressing the reader by using photographs of sound if the title is read aloud. The harsh sound can be linked with the
characters looking directly out of the magazine. Pictures which do not use the set or ‘harshness’ or upcoming events in the soap operas and may be
the natural background of the scene use a blue which is traditionally quite a calming advertisement for this. Also by using ‘?’ at the end of the sub titles it

designed to convey and make the storylines stand out further to create further simply hinting at possible occurrences and out comes that may be
