RINGWOOD ASSEMBLY OP GoD 5th November 1978. No. 5.
PRAYER BULLETIN.
Dear Prayer Partners,
‘Shall we lift our hearts to our precious Saviour.
"Dear Lord Jesus, We know it is your desire that we spend a little
time each dey in quiet, restful, communion with you.We realise that you
would be disappointed, and we would be inadequate to face the world and
ite challenges, if we failed to meet you in the Sanctuary. As we enter
‘let the curtain fall behind us - shut us in with Thyself"
Psalm 23.5, "Thou preparest a table before me (the Word of God); in the
presence of mine enemies (Eph 6.12); Thou anointest my head with oil,
(Acts 2.16-18); and my cup runneth over". (Mark 16.20)
Ny cup runneth over!" But there can be nol'running over", no "overflovy
Unless the "cup* ie full to the brim. My heart is the cup, and I must
@rink deeBly if it is to be full (2 Cor 4.7). The overflow is seen in
our love, concern, and eympathy for others. We drink from the Fountain
of Life (John 7.37-39) as we commune with Him.
But a dry empty cup ie useless to a man dying of thirst!
The Pealnist likens Christians to trees (Ps 1.3) "He shall be 1ike a
tree planted by the Rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in
his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth
shall prosper”. NO WATER - NO TRESS, NO FRUIT! And strangely enough,
conversely thia {a also true - NO TRESS (or only dead ones) ~ NO WATER
We see this in the ever-incroaching deserts. Ao the trees disappear,
‘the wilderness takes over. I bolicve that the present-day spiritual
desert is cecasioned by the Church's lack of prayer - and the wilder
ness of crime, violence and wickedness is taking over. AND IT Is
GOING 10° BE -A'LOT, LOT, WORSE. For all true Christiaas (God's trees)
are soon to be renoved to glory! (1 Cor 15.51-52; 1 Theos 4.15-18;)-
ani thea! Oh, Brother, Sister - THEN! The worid for a time will be
a fearful, howling, wilderness! (Matt 24.21-22). The "salt" will
have gone! (Da reai'2 Thess 2.612). Sxert an influence while yu can!
PLEASE CHRISTIAN - Don't neglect your prayer life. So much depends upon
it; for yourself and others; for the Church and for the Kingiom of God!
The one power on earth that can command the power of God - IS PRAYER!
The untold power of the Almighty is stored for us in Heaven ~ BUD IT

forces of earth ani hell. It can enable ordinary folk Like ourselves

THE MORNING WArCH.
Are you using - and adding to - your prayer list? A Prayer List is an
invaluable aid in your devotions. It keeps one focused, helps concent~
ration and aide menory.
T don't know whether you have THIS aifficulty. Prom time to time, as
I pray, I will be reminded of thinge I must do (to write a letter, or
to pay an account); or maybe it is a thought along certain lines of
truth. As I do not want to interrupt my oupplications, I keep a letter
ped close by and jot down the intruding thought, and straigntway
forget it. Of course I resurrect and attend to it when I have finiched
ny prayer-tine. Try it - it helps.
In your devotional reading you usually find that some verses STAND OUT.
Some of them are just wonderful - too good to forget! I mark them with
a coloured pencil, At times I write some of them down on a piece of
card or paper and keep then in my pocket. During the day, when I
have a spare monent I will glance at them again. (It's good to nibble
at something eveet between meals! !)
HALE NIGHT OP PRAYER.
Whatever you do - DON'T FORGE? the half night of Prayer on Priday
17th November at GPM, I trust the whole Church will be represented
by at least one member of each family!
Can you cone to the Day of Prayer Sedoion noxt Wednesday - if for
only part of the time? It will help 80 much. We MUST PRAY THROUGH!
