Dear Lester,

I know you are experienced with large power industries and have over two decades of experience in Solar energy collection. That is why I am continuing our dilogue and invite you to be our senior adviser. Beno Sternlicht, former Chariman of MTI and John Prescott, Deputy Prime Minister of UK and other noted Stirling engine practitioners are among our advisers.

Stirling Engines are made by new age manufacturers in U.S., Sweden, Holland and China, after GESEP transferred U.S. MTI technology to China. At the time MTI, just came out of a large commercialization project with DOE, has the leading state of the art Stirling engine technology.

Stirling engines are omnivorous and can use any appropriate thermal energy. They are built in standard modular sizes suitable for a multitude of applications. As alternative to large power plants they are joined in large clusters. They can go into service in stages and do not need the unduly long construction cycle typical of big nuclear or fossil power plants.

As you already know by our previous dialog, Solar Stirling power out competes other solar technologies in efficiency, power density and speed to service. That is why California utilities voted for solar Stirling engine as alternative to large nuclear and fossil electric power plants. Please see attached published paper "Green Energy for Electricity (GENEI) Initiative".

Stirling engines come in all types using a multitude of appropriate green energy, are suitable for developed and developing countries. For big countries with ample sunshine like U.S., China, Brazil, Middle Eastern and African countries Solar Stirling is the Commanding Technology to go green. Please see my keynote speech "Promising Future of Stirling Engines in China", delivered at the 2nd International Conference on Stirling Engines.

With the support of many Stirling Engine practitioners and manufacturers GESEP is proposing a Stirling Engine Alliance (SEA) Grand Strategy for win-win strategic cooperation in R and D, manufacturing, integrated market sharing and guaranteed intellectual property rights protection. The vision is to gather momentum for fast deployment of green energy Stirling engine worldwide before it is too late.

Time is of essence as suggested by Al Gore. The necessity to turn to green electricity generation is so great for energy conservation and environmental protection that we cannot wait. The scope of challenge is so big and the opportunity is so great, no single country, even U.S. with our advances in Stirling engine cannot do it without partnering with the great producers and large markets with vested interests.

Lester,

GE makes steam turbines, gas turbines, hydro turbines and Westinghouse makes nuclear power plants. They do not make Stirling Engines. New Age Companies in U.S., China, Sweden, Holland and Japan make Stirling engines for green energy alternatives to nuclear and fossil fuels.

One of the companies I work with is MTI. They used to have a Stirling Engine joint venture with GM funded by DOE during the 1980's. At the time MTI had the most advanced technology in the world. MTI chairman Dr. Beno Sternlicht went to China with me during 1980's to transfer Stirling Engine Technology to SMEDRI. See attached letter from Dr. Beno Sternlicht. After two decades of hard work SMEDRI successfully built advanced submarines for China based on MTI Stirling engines designed for the auto industry..

www.ltd-stirling.de/ id46.htm is the link you can buy well crafted fine German solar Stirling engine demonstration models for US$ 400 to 1000. I highly recommend them.

Lester,

Stirling engine technology is an old engine cycle, as old as Otto or Diesel cycles. It has become a modern engine marvel by Renaissance. I advocate Stirling engine as well as harmony Renaissance. Sometimes old ideas can be very powerful when the timing is right.

Stirling engine is external combustion so it is omnivorous. It can be powered by any appropriate energy, including direct solar, geothermal, biogas or waste heat from the outside.

A small Stirling engine model is available for US$ 300 to 1000. It can be so finely crafted that it can run by the heat of your palm or a cube of ice. As long as one can create a temperature difference across the engine. It can come in large sizes to power submarines. For large utility power plant application it comes in low maintenance modular units in the thousands. They can be the safest pollution and radioactive free alternative to nuclear and fossil energy. Again please refer to my recent article GENEI initiative in response to Al Gore's imperative.

With the backing of my friends I am called upon to help Stirling energy revival technology both in China and the U.S. Stirling engine can be built with over 40% efficiency with higher power density than Diesel engine, using sealed helium or hydrogen gas. Because of its high power density it will be the commanding solar technology of the future. I am assembling a team with my old colleagues by assignment from China. Your over two decades of expertize in Solar power collection can be a great asset to our team. Again I invite your participation.

Lester,

I am glad you agree. 24 years ago I transferred U.S. MTI Stirling engine technology to China. After twenty years of very admirable hard work, China perfected Stirling engines for submarine. China today has the quietest submarine technology. That is how mature and advanced the Chinese technology is. There will be a great shortage in the worldwide market for Solar and biogas Stirling engines. China can play a big role in Stirling engine renaissance, after all Stirling engine cycle was invented in 19th century. That is why China is interested in my Stirling Engine Alliance Grand Strategy Proposal.

The U.S. Stirling engine technology today is also very advanced. The U.S. has worked very hard for the last two decades for the broadest applications in the world. California utilities know their business. They have contracted the building of large scale Solar Stirling Power Plants as alternatives to nuclear power plant. The technology must be darn good and reliable, or else California would not have voted for Stirling technology over all other competitive technologies as alternatives for large nuclear and fossil power plants.

I believe the U.S. manufacturers will not able to meet the demand for Stirling engines. U.S. and China no doubt will become win win partners in manufacturing for the world market.

I know most of the important manufacturers in both countries. I know which manufacturer has the best technology. I know some of the engineers from past DOE contacts. My experience with Stirling engine goes Way back, that is why I was instrumental in transferring State of the art U.S. technology to China two decades ago. Attached are two of my Stirling engine papers for your reference.

What I don't quite see is the maturity of Stirling technology as a reliable power plant substitute.

You have not answered my question as to who is providing the engines for the S. Ca projects.

Lester,

The figures of renewable energy comparison is tabulated in TW, which is the rate renewable energy available to earthlings. In comparison wind energy is only 0.5% of available Solar energy. One day of solar energy if all collected can last for our energy use in one year at the current rate. The underground reserve of fossil fuel are finite resources, they are not inexhaustible and not to be compared to renewable solar and other energies. I hope this answers your comparison response.

Attached is an additional table comparing cost effectiveness of Solar Stirling engine to other solar technologies. The information is from Starr Point Rating. GESEP partners were cosponsor of the 2nd International Conference on Stirling Engines, held in Shanghai. Due to pressing priority for commanding Solar technology, it is incumbent upon us to call for an International Stirling Engine Conference to promote Stirling Engine Alliance for worldwide concerted polling of Stirling energy resources. Your participation is invited.

Albert,

The total combined renewable energy available on earth is only 12 TW compared to Solar energy of 600 TW. Attached compiled data shows of the 12 TW, wind energy leads with 3TW. Wind compared solar energy is only 1 to 200. Solar energy reaching the earth if collected entirely can provide one year's energy use. This argues strongly the importance of solar Stirling engine green energy renaissance.

In view of the current fever about wind energy in China, our partner Li Jiaqing at "China International" should present the attached data to the vice premier in charge of energy to give the important perspective of solar energy and concentrated solar Stirling power in exploiting solar energy.

Lester,

The comparison is based on raw input on all renewable energies. Intuitively we also know solar energy is the main source of renewable energy for us earthlings. That is the energy that fueled all the growth. Sunshine is omnipresent. Wind only occurs where there is atmospheric pressure difference. Atmospheric pressure differences are created by solar heating in the first place. Notwithstanding all the wind that is created by solar power, available data shows wind energy only adds up to 0.5% of total solar energy that reaches the earth. One day's worth of sunshine is enough energy for a year.

As to fossil fuel underground. It is not renewable and definitely not desirable. Their large scale use should be discouraged because of the pollution and heat produced by their combustion. All these added combustion is what caused catastrophic climate change. Large nuclear power plant should also be discouraged. We are fooling ourselves by postponing the radioactive contamination to our future generation. Decades later, the aftermath of Chernobyl has not been cleaned up.

I recommend solar Stirling power for two reasons. First, solar is by far the biggest renewable energy source. Second, the modern Stirling engine is the commanding technology because of its high efficiency and high power concentration compared to other solar technologies. a Stirling engine CHP modular unit can produce 40% electricity and 40% thermal energy a total of 80% efficient. No PV panel or Solar steam power can compare to it in total efficiency.

That is why the two largest contracted Solar power plants contracted in California are Stirling engine driven. Solar One and Solar Two with combined power of 1750MW. The size of two nuclear power plants.

Attached is a comparison chart of world's largest existing solar power plants or under construction. Just a few thoughts to share with you as a friend. For more details please visit my publications sites on Scribd under Solar Stirling Engine Partnership and World Harmony Organization Groups.

Lester,

This is old Stirling engine technology that was put through solar testing by cooperation with DOE for the last decade. The MTI technology that I helped to transfer to China was just advanced in mechanical construction. What was updated was the solar collector. That is why China today is right up there in world Stirling engine technology. What China lacks behind is in broad base application. I am working with the Chinese now on a Stirling Engine Alliance Grand Strategy. Stirling power is the commanding technology for solar energy. See attached letter for Beno Sternlicht, former Chairman of MTI.

"Steam engine initiated 19th century, Internal combustion engine powered 20th century and Stirling will herald 21st century green harmony" Attached is my keynote speech "The Promising Future of Stirling Engines in China", at the 2nd International Conference on Stirling Engines, held at Shanghai. Should you be interested, I can share with you the latest what Green Energy Stirling Engine Partnership is planning.
