Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these thingsthat shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man
For thus hath the Lord said unto me,
Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth.
Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?
Today we see many ‘so called’ moves of God. Those who participate in such things, declare that this is the‘work of the Holy Spirit.’ In these meetings, we find many manifestations that those who attend call the resultof the ‘Holy Spirit.’ In our modern society its influences have penetrated the church and the way it does busi-ness. There is no doubt we do live in an age of the ‘glitz n glamour’ church. In addition, besides the worldlyside of spiritual matters, many times we have trouble understanding what a move of God that is for this writing, the work or manifestation of the ‘Holy Spirit.’ We have reduced the move of God to some basics. First, in thesemeetings, some not all of them, have what people would say are ‘full gospel’ or ‘Pentecostal’ elements to them.We see people shaking, falling down, being subjected to some unknown force. In addition these manifestationsalso have ‘laying on hands’, ‘healing’, and ‘words of prophecy’. Finally we find some who claim to become‘born again.’ Now this is not all of the particular elements of such meetings. We can add, speaking, preaching, singing, praise, worship, and many other such activities. Now for this writing and understanding there are manysupernatural manifestations that I have not written down here. Having been in many meetings, knowing fullwell what has gone on in many such meetings, I raise a flag of warning here. Let it be understood, the LORDcan move in such meetings, but there are elements of supernatural forces that are ‘familiars or deceiving spirits’involved in many of such gatherings. The problem is we have reduced what we believe to be the ‘Holy Spirit’ to mere carnal elements and physicalmanifestations. That is, an unknown source, ‘whom people assume to be the Holy Spirit’ comes and makes or overcomes people to act in weird ways. Now all this is taken many times from Acts, where the coming of theHoly Spirit, the people appeared as drunk. The trouble today is, we have made this the main theme, at least itseems that way. Over the years, these same meetings have produced pastors wives ‘howling like wolves’, menon floors crawling with a dog leash and ‘barking like dogs’, ‘uncontrollable shaking and moving’, ‘cackling, laughing, and weird associative noises’ all of which those involved have called a ‘revival.’ In looking at all of this, we find, the carnal, a human being, overcome by a supernatural force. If we were to compare such ‘comingof the Holy Spirit’ with the word of God, what would we find? Further if we were to simply look at the book of Acts, would we find something close to what we see going on in America today. What we see today, for themost part, is a secular, carnal church, relishing manifestations of the spirit. We reduce what the LORD God promised to send in Joel 2:28 with the so called moves we see today. We have broken down the ‘Comforter, theSpirit of Truth, the Helper’ to one of showmanship, for what reason I ask? To say we have had a great revival? To see miracles, signs, and wonders? What is the real reason Americans flock to such meetings in multitudesand then subject themselves to the carnal displays of ‘spiritists’? We were and are warned in the scriptures of the deceivers of the last days. That in fact, they would bring with them ‘power, signs, and lying wonders’.These are manifestations that are real, visible, and for all intents provide verifiable evidence that the one doingthe work before has some authority and power. The question then becomes from whom does he have authorityand from whom has he received power? Thus we find that the signs are ‘lying’ in that they point those who aredeceived by them to another source of authority and power, one that is not the true Christ, Yeshua Ha Massiach,The Messiah. In short, many, Christ said would come in his name, saying I am Christ, deceiving many. Further, there are those as well who come, present themselves, show signs and wonders, saying they have come in the
